Hello, I've been having loads of fun working on my first project. Realizing i should start recruiting more help if I want to get any further! If anyone wants to get involved let me know and I'll get you some more information. Major areas i'm interested in getting help in are:

Battle system: attacks, spells, stats
Scripts: a couple how-to/tutorial scripts, party selection script
Graphics: lacking battle backdrops
SFX: Need lots of cool sound effects for attacks/spells!

PLOT:
A group of friend's world is turned upside down after their friend Max attempts to mod his atari. Now the ones who used to compete against each other must work together and compete for one common goal - Survival.

The game is basically a tribute to video game tournament called VADER that we hold every week. The idea is that heroes all get sucked into the video game world and must play through various popular video game series (space invaders, mario, zelda, FF, pokemon, etc...). Content will be borrowed from these games initially, but as the story progresses the content will become all original.

It will be full of inside jokes, but not to the extent that it will affect gameplay. Because of this, I don't want my friends to help with testing. That way I can keep all my secrets for as long as possible =]. That is why I would appreciate some outside help.

If all you need help on is testing I'd be glad to help! And if you're going for the non-ripped music approach, I can help you out there as well. My music isn't top quality or anything, but it's all original and I have a ton of unused stuff that will never see the light of day. Mainly concepts but still it's something

Ohaidere Jaguar!
First, i'd like to welcome you to Slime Salad! I'm Master K, your resident nutbar and ninja, and avid Slime Arena battlist. You see me around a lot.

Second, i'd like to comment on those screenshots. The hero and walkabouts look great, but for some reason, seem to be ripped. Why? Well, the buildings, enemies, and roadways seem...bland. They have no detail! No texture! No...aethestic. You should try to improve that if you finish the game.

@Meatballsub & ncw64: Any help would be greatly appreciated! Would love to take a listen to some songs as I don't really have any at the moment. I'll let you know when I have something.

@Master K: Thanks for the warm welcome. I drew all of the walkabouts myself, but used both FF1 walkabouts and some off of the Vikings of Midgard walkabouts as references so you may be seeing similarities there. As far as the graphics go, they are purposefully bland because of the plot. The beginning of the game is supposed to be an Atari world so I am trying to emulate the Atari feel. However, as the game progresses, the graphics will also progress as the characters leave the Atari world and enter the next phase...

In fact I had made a tileset with more detail, but decided to not use it as the plot changed. I might as well post up for public use since I spent some time making it. It is the basically the red spaceship map seen above but in more detail. The mainframes may be animated to flash and the forcefield on the door may be animated to open.

Yea, sure thing! They are all Anvil files so I dunno if you can open them with anything else, but either way Anvil Studios is free so it shouldn't really matter. I can't figure out how to send more than one at a time so if anyone knows, it'd be awesome if you'd let me know!

Hi Jaguar and welcome,

We like the detailed tile map but understanding simplifying a map when a story too complex. Still, perhaps you could keep it for another game, it a shame to put so much work into it and then let it go. We also like your walk about and about that...

@ Jaguar: but used both FF1 walkabouts and some off of the Vikings of Midgard walkabouts as references so you may be seeing similarities there.

Most when first learning study the graphics and scripts of others who have more skill than us. It is hard to start with nothing. However as we keep building we develop our own styles that will very greatly from others and newbee will copy our stuff instead. At least we can hope we get that good.

Hey, just posted you some music in the "Games" directory, I couldn't figure out any other way to do it. Feel free to download and listen to and use any or all of them! Some of them stand fine on their own and a few don't, but either way alter, use, and abuse them all to their fullest!
