If it's just this once, then go ahead I guess. If you're planning on showing off things in King Arthur's Gold repeatedly, please make a King Arthur's Gold thread. You might have to advertise the game on there a little bit since it's so obscure.

And the rest of you ought to make a general Dwarf Fortress thread. I understand it's popular around here, I'm sure it'd do well. Or maybe you shouldn't, since you might be at risk of re-addicting James and thus Wandering Hamster would forever be in limbo. (And before anyone mentions it, there was a Dwarf Fortress thread by Ichiro a little less than two years ago, but I wouldn't recommend necro-ing that thread.)

But anyway, I'm afraid of this thread getting derailed, so WHOA BAM LOOK AT THAT NEW TESTIFICATE INTELLIGENCE WOW

Okay, I understand my double-posting is getting out of hand, but bear with me! I'm taking a leave of absence next week tomorrow for about a week, and probably won't be able to mine or craft during that time, so I need to lay this idea out before I forget it.

Here come the details of my hypothesis in slimy bullet format!
V Snow Golems are the balls! Create them at a "Tee" block, then whack them to the Hole at the end of the course!
Confused Score might be tallied based on the number of squares of snow the golem leaves behind, or perhaps an approximation of what percentage of the course got covered in snow.

Smile Gold Swords enchanted with Knockback I or II (but not Sharpness or Fire Aspect) would be the drivers, and plain sticks would be the putters.
Angel Use Splash Potions of Weakness and Healing when using the drivers to ensure the poor, fragile snowman lives to see the goal!
Devil Obstacles will be just like in regular golf! Water hazards will kill your Snow Golem, probably forcing you back to the tee, and sand pits will be difficult to escape from, being made from sand, soul sand, and/or cacti.
Grin Snow Golems are immune to fall damage! Courses would be the most fun when they're completely downhill, off the tops of mountains!

In order to make this happen on our server, we'll need a healthy stock of snow and pumpkins (for the golems), glass, netherwart, spider eyes, sugar, and brown mushrooms (for the weakness potions), melons, gold (for the healing potions), gunpowder (to make them splash), water buckets and sandy stuff (for the hazards), and...

The enchanted gold swords will be a problem, unless James can pull some super duper server magic to make them appear out of thin air or something. We might need to magic in lots of gold and bottles o'enchanting if server commands don't work with explicit enchantments.

Where will this beautiful golf course be located? Stay tuned to find out as I return tomorrow with some screenshots and text! Hopefully!

I'd like to try this out if ye get it set up. I can help build the courses if ye need it. Not making promises, but I'll help if I can if you need.

Mad. Spash potions of weakness? I don't follow.

Gold isn't be a problem. I think you would expect 1/6 weapon enchantments to be knockback, so enchanting big stacks of swords to level 1 would be sufficient, if oyu're happy with knockback I.

A normal hit from a Gold Sword will kill a Snow Golem: using a Potion of Weakness on yourself will cut that damage in half, thus the Snow Golem will survive one hit (use splash potions of healing to set it up for another hit). I think what he's getting at is: why splash?
We can just DRINK the potion of weakness, saving gunpowder and time.
I suppose if you want to save some time and items you could make it splash to hit a GROUP, but that would turn out too chaotic in the end, as everyone will have to regroup to get re-debuffed. It won't be pretty, most likely.

The coolest dudes take out every expense to save the smallest amounts of time. Also I'm the one who's going to be providing potion provisions, and I have pretty much everything I need already. (After all, one reagent gets distributed across three potions simultaneously when brewing, so I wouldn't call it a waste of gunpowder)

Regrouping will probably happen anyway when players finish up with one course and travel together to the next one. I highly doubt that any single course will take more than 3 minutes to complete, even with several in a group.

According to the Minecraft wiki, wooden tools are more difficult to enchant than gold ones, and Wood Swords and Gold Swords do equal amounts of damage - 2 hearts' worth.

By the way, I made a promotional video for the location of our future golf course. It took later than I expected because the internet fizzled out as I was uploading the video. It's just for us, so I hope ya'll enjoy it! I may do more videos of our server grounds in the future.

I don't see anything about tripwires anywhere. Are you talking about the trap at the bottom of the pyramid? That was just a stone pressure plate sitting on a 3x3 square of TNT. All of which, by the way, generates naturally, so hey wait a minute! You can find TNT without having to craft it, isn't that something!

Tripwires are like single-use pressure plates, but they are very hard to see, and can stretch for 19 blocks. Dinnerbone posted screenshots of them on twitter (yes, I am enough of a junkie to be following all of the devs)

Oh! Thanks for that, now I know where to be looking for more info. I dug up a screenshot from dinnerbone's twitter after hearing about it from you, and...

I... I can't see it!! I know it's there, but I cannot see it! This is going to be nightmarish when master trap builders get their hands on them.

Truly will, but imagine if it's implemented on strongholds! Don't suprise your self if you trigger a tripwire and a massive stone come rolling behind you.
