That's really amazing! Now might be a good time to start trying out mods!

I am super reluctant to put mods on the server for several reasons:

* Players cannot connect unless they install the mods too
* Can't upgrade to new versions of Minecraft until the mods get updated too
* I would lose my automatic updating, and would have to manually update the server in addition to manually updating the mods.

Also, I know that Jeb is working on official Mod support, and I think when that happens, the mod-install issues and mod-upgrade issues should be smoothed out.

I specifically meant it might be time for me to try a mod. I've been notoriously suspicious of mods! And I think a mod like this on our server would probably ruin the balance/economy, but I may be wrong.

It's good to hear that they are considering official mod support. I've recently been learning Java, and this my be a fun project.

Day 1: Iron Golems
Day 2: Someone figures out how to farm them for iron
It's extremely unethical (they pick roses for the little Testificate children!) but if you want to get in on it anyway (it'd be great for James's rails), the details are explained here. http://youtu.be/4xuBqgaaoKY

We're also going to be getting upside-down stairs and the top halves of slabs, which I have found myself craving on more than one occasion.

I didn't think this would happen. It's like glass panes all over again!

Oh no! A double post! Clearly I am getting too addicted to this game if I already have something new to show the forums.

The server is running 1.2.2 now. I played for half an hour today, and was delighted to discover a Jungle. I guess Jeb listened to reason and changed his mind about disabling them on existing maps.

The Jungle I found is far north of Mt. James. if you want to get there, tale the rail line from Mt James past Jack-O-Lantern bayou, past Pinebark Shore, to Silica Desert. Then walk (carefully) along the unfinished skyrail north from Silica Desert until you reach a place where I cut away a mountaintop to make room for the rail. From there you can safely jump to the gorund without dying. Continue north under the unfinished skyrail until it ends, and then look directly west and you will see it.

I haven't explored it for Ocelots yet, I was just working on my rail and happened to look up, and "wow" there it was.

You might be able to find some other jungles closer to the center of the world, but that is how to find the one I saw :)

Also: If anybody sees me on the Minecraft server, this week, I am counting on you to yell at me to go and work on my random collaboration game instead. Be my support group! ;)

Gentlemen, BEHOLD!

... Admittedly, no, it's not much yet. And it's not working quite the way I want it to. In order to get moved, you need to step on the pressure plate while moving towards the stairs, and then up you go. But if you just stop on the plate, you won't budge. Maybe if I pushed the plate back by one and added another piston to the base...
Anyway, in addition, we're short by a great many slimeballs. I'm going to try to work up <64+> iron ingots to trade to James for <32+> slime balls. (Reply to this if you want to bump either number up a notch)

Also! I got a new Painterly Texture Pack, and I'm using it with MCPatcher this time! The advantages of these two combining forces include
-New colors for previously unchangeable palettes, such as Birch leaves and Swamp grass.
-New textures and animation for Lava and Water, plus a removal of the Water overlay, making it a little easier to see underwater
-Randomobs! Why pick just one texture for a mob when you can have them all? With this in place, any of the Painterly mobs can replace the ordinary Minecraftian ones; Jiang Shi vampires, sharkmen, and yetis will replace zombies; spiders will come in a practical rainbow of colors; pigs will have random faces, brown or pink skin, and may even have wings!; and of course the villagers now come in a HUGE variety, including fearsome neanderthal Testificates!, ghastly grinning green Goblins!, pink and brown Pigmen of questionable allegiance!, and sometimes Zoidberg.

Strangely enough, and I'm probably the only one I know in a similar position, I've never played or even touched Minecraft... I do believe I must rectify this, heh...

Oh, you don't have to pay me 2 iron for every slimeball. I will gladly accept 1 iron ingot for every 2 slimeballs.

You are also welcome to hunt giant slimes in the basement of Mt. James. it seems like every time I go down there I find at least one or two giant slimes waiting for me, and sometimes I find more than 8 at a time.

Hrmm! It seems that a mountain witch has moved into our neighborhood! She seems to subscribe to the popular "information wants to be free!" philosophy, so you can get some level 2-10 enchantments from her humble library. A word of warning, though: do not snoop through her things looking for something to eat, or you'll regret it.

Other recent additions to our lovely mountain range include:
-An impressive but worthless Zipper Elevator (complete)
-A boring but useful ladder next to it
-Two smallhouses with an alley and gutter between them
-The frame of a humble but handsome longhall
-A tempered glass tube tunnelbridge going between the main fortress and the plantation at land's end
-A super-tall tree that reaches up past the clouds
I'll post more screens as more things get completed.

A while back I completed the handsome longhall that I'd mentioned earlier. It's very nice, very cozy. I'm not sure why I keep calling it a longhall, though, it's not particularly long. It's more like an inn than anything. Anyway, I put a lot of effort into detailing the interior, so much so that you'll have to log onto the server and venture there yourself to see it all!

What happened to everyone who played minecraft? Baconlab's village in the NJ valley has gotten much bigger - it really is essential to come and have a look at it.

I have only been able to play a little bit lately, and I always seem to be online when nobody else is.

I have been trying to farm cats, but it is frustrating. I have to be super careful about where I leave them when I log out, because if they are not sitting somewhere safe, they will be dead/gone when I log back in.

Is there a rail line yet that connects Oxford with new Jerusalem? If not, maybe that will be my next project.
