@Baconlabs: yeah, actually, making that giant cobblestone ceiling would be pretty easy in MCEdit, now that you mention it. Also, I love that Minecraft's 1024x1024 map items have given me the first good reason to use the kibi prefix for a unit of distance :)
@SwampTroll: !!!! Wow! That looks like an incredibly cool mod!
I was really disappointed when Enchantments were implemented and they turned out to just be special effects and bonuses instead of being a programming language like what that mod does.
I still want to make a game where you program your own magic spells.
@Baconlabs
I'm actually hollowing out a Slime Chunk so that we can easily farm slimeballs with no real effort. I've not marked it very clearly, but it is a hole in the sea near Sky-Squid Island (which will benefit greatly from the new height cap
). Maybe we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone and put the zipper on the slime farm?

This server's been growing a lot despite the February inactivity! Here's some things I discovered on re-walking the world:
-New rail line between Mt. James and Spawnerton
-Lots of new rails from Mt. James to parts unknown, making his home the official "James Junction"
-New Flanat, the li'l villa' on top of Mt. James
-NeoSpade's expanding Sky Squid Island
-NeoSpade's new quarry in the Creeperton lake
-A giant woodlouse en route to consuming Oxford whole
-Wozzeck's new Byzantine Sandstone Fort, tentatively called New Jerusalem
And of course the surrounding mountain range! There are at least three major mountains, each of which has an owner. Wozzeck claimed the one closest to Oxford, and it is joined by the sister mountain claimed by GoldenWoodlouse, who is setting up a large platform for something.
And me? I seized the mountain across the valley and am preparing a tall tower, along with something far more attractive that I'm not going to reveal until it's finished.
Also, in case you haven't heard, there is a thief running across the server, particularly Creeperton and Oxford, stealing others' diamonds.
S/he could come after you next! Here's my recommendation: don't hide them in a chest! Make as many Diamond Blocks as you can and surround them with dirt or something someplace only you know of. This way they can't see your diamonds, even if they're using an X-ray texture pack. Just be sure not to leave any air holes.
EDIT: One more thing! There is a gorgeous pine-forested hill valley beyond the vast desert beyond our mountain range. I had to take a snapshot while I was there.

I also made a small vertical village that I am proud of. It runs up a sheer cliff that resulted from a mountain being sliced in half down to sea-level by a terrain generator update.
Regarding the diamond thief, I used a savegame editor to examine the inventory of every singe user, and I couldn't find any trace of the missing diamonds. I also looked through the server log, and hardly anybody was on during the time when the diamonds went missing. I really have no suspects at this point. If it was any other items besides diamonds, I would be ready to say that it was a crazy server error.

The thief (or glitch) is a fool! Everyone knows that Dirt is the new Diamond!
Can you grow crops, trees, grass and flowers on Diamonds? No. :P
I really need to amass stone picks and shovels (and not to mention huge amounts of torches) so that I can totally clear out that chunk for optimum slime farming.
A good way to test for a thief is to put down a diamond block in plain sight next to a chest, if that goes missing then it's likely a thief. Is the server still White-List only? And it could also be possible that whoever is stealing diamonds is also hiding them in a chest somewhere. Regardless I'm off to dig out a chunk!

This made me smile :)

Yes
Also welcome, mrjohnson! Get settled over the next several days and find some iron, you're seriously going to need a minecart if you want to explore this server's many attractions.
Finally, I installed an onsen near Giant Step.

Quite unrelated, but I've just discovered this mod:

I haven't tried it (or any mod for that matter!), but it looks very interesting. I could imagine it being an excellent pedagogical tool for basic programming concepts.

If computercraft 1.2 was amazing, computercraft 1.3 is mindblowing! it has turtle robots!
