Are we saying that we want to stick to the East Coast? If so, then in about a year I might be able to host a casual one of this. If I get the job I'm looking at, I'd be in northern VA, close enough to DC or Richmond if we want to go hang out in a city.

Alternatively, if this is within a day's drive from me, I'm willing to pick up anyone more or less along the way.

Interesting thing about northern VA:
MAGfest takes place there in the winter, which would be a con of interest to almost everyone on this forum.

Hmm... Virginia is probably pretty much the only state I'd actually be able to get to for this kind of thing (well, okay, maybe one of the states right around VA, but they'd be a little more trouble for me to get to.)

I've never been to a con of any kind, and I'm not sure if I really like the idea of meeting a bunch of people that I've only seen post in forums (or talk in IRC chatrooms) over the Internet, but... I guess if it's somewhere in Virginia rather than way out there in California or Texas or someplace, me showing up might at least be a possibility.

My guess is that it will only end up being a few of us hanging out. I've never been to a Con of any sort either (what's MAGCon?), but if it's not expensive it could be fun I guess...?

Magfest = "Music and Games" Fest. It's one of the bigger gaming-related cons, focusing on video game related music. It's sort of like a casual/lounge type atmosphere compared to PAX and E3. Lots of free games on the floor, people selling games, concerts, and the like. It also attracts some semi-big panels (That Guy With the Glasses' staff was at this year's.)

Should be the first result on Google if you want more info.

I like this idea, though I'm a huge flak and probably would bail at the last minute.
But I still like the idea. If enough people I cared about ended up coming, I'd hop over for sure. It would be interesting to meet you all in the flesh, especially considering I've "known" some of you for almost ten years (!!!) now.

I'm not against you guys doing this (and it wouldn't matter if I was), but I'm not going to go if you do.

Yeah, high east coast here and just about to start a VERY busy 4-year college stint in a month, so it's pretty unlikely for me.

Though, I'd love to...

Oh hey, someone turned this into a poll thread.
So apparently there are different kinds of cons. Can someone explain what those are, and what kinds of goings-on I could expect?

Also, I'm wondering if there are enough people to constitute two separate cons, one for the east coast and one for the west. That seems to be where the majority of significant OHR-folk live. We'd know for sure if people would post their actual location on their profiles more often.

I explained the two types in the first post. A real con is one like E3 or PAX with actual companies and stuff. The other type is basically a casual get-together, like a sleepover sort of.

Yeah most OHR folk seem to live in the southeast and the southwest.

This is kind of an old discussion, but I would certainly be interested in a meetup in Connecticut, NY, or anywhere around New England myself.

hmm, I'm actually kind of glad someone reposted in the thread. I think it has some cool potential. I mean worst case scenario- it's not that much fun and whoever goes wasted a day and some money, but I think it could be awesome! Chance to play some not crappy internet connection Brawl ;D

Thread resurrect!

I live in Chicago. It seems like all the OHR users are pretty spread around, so a large meet is pretty much doomed. But if anyone is ever visiting the city and wants to hang out, I'd love to meet up! There's lots of nerdy cool stuff to do here.

Considering the fact that I'm still in high school, I can't go much of anywhere except stay here in Louisville. If anyone's interested in roadkill stew or hundreds of bands playing in Bardstown, there's not much to see here.
