I drew four more today and I believe that should be enough enemy sprites for now. My next move will be to start mapping again.

It's been almost five months since my last update! After battling a severe design slump, I picked the game back up and stared working again late last week.
I've decided from here on out to be a be a little less chatty with my updates. I feel like I've been giving too much away, even with using occasional spoilers. I will still briefly describe updates and new areas, as well as answer any questions you guys might have for me.
The Frigid Way (Old Title) / The Frigid Alps (New Title)
This area is right after Thrallburg (old) / Camp Kole (new). There is a fortified camp at the base of the mountain. In The Omega, you traversed the inside of the mountain via caves. In Ruin, you will be traveling over the mountains themselves.
The main reason behind the change was because there are already several cave-style maps in the game while there's only one other mountain map at this point. I figured it would break the monotony up just a bit. Both the fortified camp and the mountains themselves have received overhauls.
Old Graphics:
New Graphics:
The Omega had quite a few palette-swapped enemies. I'm doing away with this in Ruin, which already has about 60 unique sprites including bosses. I project to have at least 100 unique enemy sprites by the time the game is complete.

I vote for a secret cave dungeon that you can get to by getting tnt and blowing up a collapsed entry-way.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, the bear is still kicking around. I actually used him in an earlier area, but he still is in dire need of a revamp. I edited him some for Ruin, but he still needs more work in my opinion.

Thank you sir!
I actually had this ready yesterday, but decided to split it up since I already posted a lot of pictures yesterday.
I just finished up an area that I worked on for several weeks before my design hiatus, and then a few more days in the past week. I've been really excited about these maps, but didn't want to mention it until it was actually complete.
It is the city of Solace, which is a location that is discussed in The Omega but ultimately cannot be accessed in that game.
This area comes to life in Ruin and is a key location for a large part of one hero's back story. It is a totally optional area, but is filled with lore, mystery and loot for those that take time to explore it.
Cosmetically, Solace is probably the most unique map I've ever made. It's essentially a village atop a snowy mountain range that has an extremely large tree in the center. Somehow the area surrounding the tree is free of snow despite being in the middle of an arctic region (you learn about this in-game).
While there is some standard housing on the outside, the majority of the village actually lives inside the tree.
Of course, you learn the history behind the tree itself and the city in-game.

The trees have trees inside them. Are there more trees inside those?

Thanks all.
The City of Tenebrae (formerly Duskburg in The Omega) is by far the largest town in Ruin. At almost 4300 tiles, Tenebrae is densely packed with a ton of homes, shops, side quests and plays a huge role in progressing the main storyline.
As with the other maps from The Omega, it is receiving an overhaul complete with new graphics, dialogue and music (thanks to Vamp/Soda Piggy for the music!). There will also be several new side quests available, as well as a new, optional coliseum-like area where heroes can kill things for stuff and glory.
Because the town is ginormous, I decided to video a before and after as opposed to posting 1,000 images for this one city. The quality isn't great but you get the idea (it helps changing it to 720p but it still will be a bit blurry). I'll have a separate update hopefully in a few days that will at least show off the new coliseum. There's no sense in showing the interior housing for this town, as its nothing insanely different than what you've already seen elsewhere.
As an aside, I'll probably scrap the new name for something else before release. I just found out a few weeks ago that FFXV will have a town by the same name, and the last thing I want is for people to think I ripped it off (even though I wanted to change Duskburg to Tenebrae since right after The Omega released in 07/08).
The video can be found at the link below (not sure how to or if I can embed):
