Or we could just combine all of our attempts into one, then shorten it into an acronym:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

That way we all almost win!

It might be the cheap beer talking but I'd like to propose the following:

Accorn
Alkaline
Abhorrent
Alakazam
Apothecary
Aprobobo
Astrodersion
Artiubberchoke

AND LAST

EDIT: I was going to include one of the longest recorded A words but it stretched the thread out so, yeah. But if you're curious as to what it was: http://www.fun-with-words.com/word_longest.html look up the "Tobacco virus" on that page.

Arc? As in we just completed the alphabet arc?

Or maybe adroit, like the adroit movements of fingers over a piano makes beautiful music, or adroit developers are resourceful at working around every bug in FB...

Or maybe Arbol-berries. Don't eat 'em--they'll stunt your growth... except for your left ear!

I was going to add short descriptions of all of them in parenthesis, but then I decided I probably have more important things to do for the next two hours.

My current favorite is Alectormancy or maybe Alectormancer. The wikipedia article for that word redirects to Alectryomancy which does uses roosters, but does not require killing them... although it doesn't have the same ring to it.

Alot and Abobo are also delightful.

Many really good suggestions. I am feeling pretty Aboulomaniac about this.

Aw, my suggestion, acrophobia, is missing.

Unless I didn't actually ever suggest it, in which, it's not there as expected.

It's an old irc game where you try to come up with acronyms for random strings of characters... which I thought was fitting for our acronymed engine.
