Since other people seem to have kinda started, I don't see any problem with working on the script now and planning it out. I'd really prefer everyone start at the same time so that nobody has an advantage over anyone else in terms of time though. I understand that the writing can be the most important part, so I'm willing to budge for that. But I would prefer that if you haven't already to wait until the 21st to begin coding and working on the actual movie. I think it's fine to "cast" your movies now. Haha.

Oops! Wow. I somehow only saw the contest end-date. My brain reinterpreted your original post as:

Well I'm not gonna ask people to stop working on a project if they started. I just would like to have the same time line for everyone to keep it fair. I'd hate for someone to get an unfair advantage over someone else. I mean, I'm fine with people doing graphics and story drafting, as "shooting" can begin on the 21st.

Yeah, you're fine. Contest officially starts in less than a week, so it's not the end of the world, like I said. I don't want to discourage anyone from participating at all.

Ha! I read it the same way. I haven't worked on my movie all that much either so I'm not ahead of anyone. So now I got a week to twiddle my thumbs and stare at a blank page/screen trying to think exactly what the movie is going to be about. Work (my real work) is about to kick into overdrive so I hope I will still have enough time/energy in the evenings to work on my movie and still get it finished in time.

All graphics must also be yours; you can use all new graphics or graphics you made for another game, but not ripped ones from someone else's. We love Vikings of Midgard, but let's keep everything for this fresh and new.

What about free resources, like creative commons stuff? I'm going to be doing a lot of color palette modification too, if that helps make it more "mine."
No.
Super Walrus Land: Mouth Words Edition
Thanks for that Moogle. Yeah, the whole point of this contest is to be original.

No.
Sorry if this seems redundant, but I just want to clarify: I was planning to manipulate a number of public domain photographs as portraits for my project. Does this rule ban that?
