Propositon: Let's recognize the OHR's musicians

I realize there are a lot of OHR games that rip their music, and this is perfectly understandable: music composition isn't easy, and making tunes that actually sound good is such a challenging task, most people don't even try. But there's still a few of us in the OHR community who work hard to churn out an original soundtrack, and it's a little disheartening to have it get ignored repeatedly.
I propose a retrospective music ceremony in which the community listens to original music tracks from OHR games from 2010 and before.

This is not a contest thread.
I would like some ideas on how to take this idea and make it into a simple and organized contest thread. Maybe not.
For starters, let's pinpoint who the musicians are. If you have composed or performed or otherwise worked on some music for an OHRRPGCE game, please post in this thread with their username and some examples of what you've accomplished.
(links are nice, but not necessary)

Hi guys. I'm RMSephy, and I wrote a lot of songs on CP under the name "Rimudora". You can find them at the below link. Please listen to a lot of them! smile

I recommend the ones that are prefixed with AW; those are from my most recent project. There's a lot of other songs too from my earlier *abandoned* games, and they're pretty special too in their own ways.

Why dont you just list all the ohr musicians and link to like 5 of their songs in the first post of this thread.
That way people will be more aware of them.

We can talk about "who's better" later.

Better yet, if you're an ohr musician why don't you post some of your song links here your self.

Why is there no music award?

It's been discussed before but it comes down to the problem that 99.9% of OHR games just use ripped music. This year was definitely better than most for the number of games with original music, but if we did a best five it would still basically amount to only five choices to begin with.

I had no idea it was this bad. If the grand total number of OHR musicians actually numbers less than the average number of games that enter an OHR contest (say, a dozen), then yes, the idea of a contest is moot.

I like Spoonweaver's idea. I'd also recommend that musicians posting in this thread put together a few songs to represent their repertoire and post them. I'll put your links into my first post for posterity.
Now, to repeat myself, musicians, please identify yourselves in this thread! I'm genuinely curious to hear your work, and I'm certain I'm not alone. Don't be shy!

I don't see him on Slimesalad, and he is only rarely on Castleparadox, but I offer many kudos to Jabbercat, who wrote a bunch of songs for Wandering Hamster.

More kudos to Shael Riley who donates several of the songs that have always been in the OHR's collection of default music. (He is not active in the OHR anymore, too busy nerdcore rapping)

Also we can't fail to thank Artimus Bena, who make a large portion of the music for Vikings of Midgard.

I always do all my own music (after my first game that is), mostly unpolished stuff but I have a few (read as 2) songs I've done that I'm happy about, I'll edit the links into this post in a bit :S (need to upload 1 of them :P)

EDIT:
Dread and Redemption - Recent work, needs some polishing but that's it

Immortal March - Older but best from back then

I make my own music. I'm not quite sure what all of your standards are but I'm relatively happy with most of it. I know msw188 makes his own music too and his is much better.
I'll try and get around to posting an example or two, or however many you'd like.
You can't fix stupidity.

I think this goes for a number of the musicians. You might want to reach out to castle paradox and post your finding here.

Yes, I do my own music. All of Tales 1 is original EXCEPT the town music is just my ear-rendition of "A Whiter Shade of Pale". Oh, and the outside music started as an ear rendition of one of the Lord of the Rings songs until someone finally called me out on it, and I've changed it now. Tales 2 will have music as soon as I come up with some town songs to replace that. I'm happy with my music.

I've written all the music for my OHR games. I also recently did a fairly fleshed out soundtrack for my flash game The Farplane Wars. Check it out here:

I'm the guy doing the soundtrack for Motrya, and I've done quite a few tracks for RMZ in the past. Here's a link. A couple of them are live recordings. For those who havent played it, I think 3 are from Motrya.
