This is my first post here; I apologize for coming out of the blue like this. But I'm very excited, if you can't tell! I posted this over at Castle Paradox as well.
So guys! I am sure some of you have heard of this, but a new digital distribution service called Desura went live a few days ago. It's like Steam, except also indie and awesome. Here's their blurb:
Desura is a community driven digital distribution service for gamers, putting the best games, mods and downloadable content from developers at gamers fingertips, ready to buy and play.
The FIRST (okay, SECOND) thing that occurred to me is that, hey, this would be an awesome way to get OHRRPGCE games the publicity they deserve. Not only is most everything community driven, it's all stored in one giant catalog, and it makes it very easy for people to find, download and play games right from the Desura program. They can also review games and do all sorts of neat stuff.
In case it's not clear, the games submitted can be free; they don't have to have a price attached.
I've added OHR to the list of engines, although it admittedly needs work to not look so ugly on the site. I've also added a group for developers and fans.
Here's where I need help: Submit your games to Desura! It looks pretty easy, although I don't have any finished games that I can test it out with. Once they're added in and approved, people can find them in the catalog, download them and play them!
If you don't feel comfortable submitting your games or don't have anything to submit, you should definitely join the group and show some support for Desura in any case, as it looks to be an awesome platform.
This is the first time I've organized anything like this, so if you have any suggestions or want to help out, please let me know! In any case, I think that Desura has the potential to be huge, and there's sure to be a lack of good, console styled RPGs on there, especially near the beginning. I think there's a gap here just waiting to be filled. I know I plan on releasing any OHR games I make through Desura at the very least, so I hope that some of you consider supporting it as well!
I think that rules out the majority of OHR games then, sadly! I can't really think of any that wouldn't have this issue, except maybe Vikings of Midgard or Wandering Hamster? Purgatory is the only game that comes to mind immediately that shouldn't have this issue, but that game is pretty old.

Motrya, but looking at what's on that site (mainly commercial games) I doubt you'd get decent exposure there anyway unless I'm missing something.
My website, the home of Motrya:

Coincendentally, I just downloaded Bandit Revolver (By Rolling Stone/Gilbert) and in one of the files there was a Box Art image link. This may something like you were thinking of?

After uploading my game (Slimes) to this site, I was notified that it would have to be reviewed before it was posted on the site. I figured this was good, since it would weed out all the really bad games so people wouldn't be overwhelmed by bad games and leave the site. I honestly figured it would be something like this. When the review process was over, I was told that my game was posted over on Desura's indie site instead of their main one. Here: http://www.indiedb.com/
This site doesn't really do much that SlimeSalad doesn't do already. I mean it may receive more hits, but it was a higher volume of games too, so the possibility of a person seeing and playing my game is about the same if not lower then it is here on SlimeSalad. There is no feature to sell games on this site, and it isn't really linked to by the main site at all.
So, after trying it out, I believe Desura doesn't really support indie games like they say they do. They only seem to host a select few of the "indie" games that were already selling for money on other sites. I'm honestly not too impressed with Desura.

Oh, and the OHRrpgCE seemed to be having a problem on the server and wouldn't let me select it as a choice of engine. I have the mods looking into it.They fixed it.
So, slimes had only received 19 downloads as of this post. As far as traffic goes, I got more hits on GMarcade. I suppose the numbers could increase, but I'm not hoping for much.
After emailing Desura to gain information about their screening process, I was told that I, "would probably have to update the art and possible deepen the game play for it to be accepted." I was also linked to a list of requirements to be accepted on to the main site. Included in these is a requirement that might doom all OHR games no matter the quality.
It's possible that OHR is obscure enough to be able to slip past their "kit" sensors, but I wouldn't want to bank on getting an ohr game on here.

Kit and Social Games. Games developed using kits (such as Gamemaker) and social based games you are more likely to find on a flash website are currently not supported. We encourage developers making such games to continue to upload their projects on to ModDB and IndieDB as we acknowledge they are an important part to this community, just not especially suited to the current aims of Desura.
