New battle System?

Ok so I was wondering how hard it would be to make a simpler battle system. If any of you guys have played the RPG Maker on the PS2 you will know what I'm talking about. So This will be a "First Person" screen. The enemies will face you.

Can I just redo some of the designs to accomplish this?
Do I have to write a new battle system?

Turn off the hero target icon thing (That exists, right?)

Draw the enemies facing the screen. Don't draw anything for your hero sprites.

I believe that does what you want.
