THE CAMPAIGN: Chapter 1-"The Dragons in the Desert"

The "party" eventually decides to make it's way deeper into the cave. After a couple of minutes of walking they see the goblin up ahead. He seems to have stopped due to a large hole in the middle of the cave path. The hole's bottom cannot be seen. Also, the sides of the tunnel around the hole extend to an unseen degree. The ceiling greats very high in this part of the cave as well, it is about 100ft up at this point.



The goblin sees the party coming and frantically tries to think of what to do.

Moving calmly and making no sudden movements (in the hopes that he will not frighten it into jumping) Ehaism approaches the goblin, intending to pick it up again.

Cile runs toward Goblee, apparently trying to overrun it.

Lao follows closely behind Ehaism, ready to help him corner the goblin if neccesary.

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy... So here's some lunchmeat... Sandwich, maybe?

The timid goblin attempts to leap across the hole. His jump's arch seems good at first, but then it becomes apparent that his jump is going to come up short. The goblin slams into the wall of the cave, a few feet below the tunnel floor. Blood gushes out as he falls into the blackness below. No one hears the body hit the ground.

Lao peers over the edge, trying to see if the goblin managed to grab hold of something. He apparently did not.

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy... So here's some lunchmeat... Sandwich, maybe?

Cile makes a running jump.

Cile successfully jumps across, and is now on the other side of the hole.

Lao yells to Cile across the chasm.

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy... So here's some lunchmeat... Sandwich, maybe?

Cile reaches into his Handy Haversack and pulls out his Silk Rope (50ft), 10-Foot-Pole, Everburning Torch, and Grappling-Hook.

He ties one end of the rope to the grappling hook and the other end to the pole before planting it into the ground.

He shoves his everburning torch into the grapple's hook and tosses it into the chasm.

[Take 10 on Use-Rope checks]

the rope dangles 50ft down into the hole. the sides of the chasm, expand farther down, and at 50ft there's still no bottom in sight.

Ehaism looks down. He figures he could probably make the jump, but seeing how narrowly Cile made it makes him nervous. He just waits to see what everybody else does.

Cile looks back up from the seemingly bottomless pit and stares back at the group of people on the wrong side of the chasm.

He pulls his lantern back up and returns it to his haversack.
He tosses the rope to the other side.



He turns around to now examine the new path before him.

Cile sees more dark tunnel before him.

Ehaism catches the rope.

Looking at it, he wonders whether it would be best to trust his weight to it, or to just jump. He holds the rope, waiting to see if anybody wants to take it from him.
