THE CAMPAIGN: Chapter 1-"The Dragons in the Desert"

Vire glares at Kytana.


Vire finds a corner to sit in and pulls out his shiny new wand to examine it a little more. Liev flies up to the rafters and roosts.

The party sets in for the night.

Ehaism does indeed find a large dining room table. In the dining room.

Vire's Alarm spell does seem to cover the only door in working order in the house. The backdoor is boarded up pretty securely, as are all the windows. There's a door on the second floor that leads to a balcony, it seems, but that's boarded up and has the remains of a large dresser and a couple of chairs in front of it. It looks like this place has been made secure by someone else, but no one else seems to be in the house, nor are there any signs of anyone being here for quite some time.


Just as the party seems to have all their sleeping arrangements in order, a cool breeze fills the rooms where they're sleeping. Everyone's belongings seem to rustle a bit, one at a time, in a matter of moments. Then, a candlestick flies across the room, as if propelled by itself.

The chilling breeze vanishes, and nothing else seems to happen for a while. Is the house haunted, or just very drafty?

Vire reassures Liev, who is briefly unsettled.

Ehaism is already asleep, snoring in that peculiar hissing way that lizardfolk do.

He is having a very nice dream in which his Masterwork Sword can talk, and only he can hear it. It tells him which people to kill, and when to kill them, and life is so simple and easy.

The night passes uneventfully. You all receive your level ( 4 ) in healing.

What shall the party do now?

Vire eats the rat corpse he's been hanging onto, giving the tail to Liev.



Liev tilts her head quizzically. Vire scowls at her.



Liev flaps her wings. Vire finishes his meal and discards the remains.



Vire dismisses the Alarm, which was near expiring anyway.

Echo wakes up, and is nonplussed to find the arrow no longer in his chest. Such is the power of resting in an inn, such as this is. Now that his body is mostly recovered, his mental state is a bit calmer.



Echo thinks if he knows of any friends, or at least people who won't kill him, that they can meet up with. He also considers the possibility of leaving the city outright, and compares the pros-and-cons of each. He uses his (local) Knowledge, gained from years of living in the city, to make the best decision.

Vire decides to explore his surroundings. He heads upstairs and attempts to access the balcony.

Echo remembers that all of his friends were in the gang with him. Meaning they're either captured or here already. That's not to say he doesn't have any acquaintances, but they would take him in, nor would they exactly fit the, won't try to kill you, criteria.
He also remembers how harsh the wilderness outside the city is. The city is surrounded by desert. Some say that a forest is just over the horizon to the north, but you've never seen it yourself. There's also said to be dragons in the desert, but that's most likely a myth.

Vire finds it hard to gain access to the balcony. The door is both boarded up and blocked by rubble. He starts to move some of the rubble. It might be easier to just climb up to the balcony from the outside, or from another window.

kytana follows Echo and whispers:

Ehaism slept well, but he is still tryng to sleep a little more. He is a little annoyed that everybody is awake and moving around and making noise.

His dream ended with his sword telling him to kill Lord Neil, and so he did. It was very satisfying, and that lordly deathblow is the part of the dream he remembers best.

kytana hands one of the the bows to him and says

Your stomachs growl. Some of you didn't eat at all yesterday, and the ones who did aren't feeling that full anymore. You'll have to venture out soon if you don't want to keep on starving.
