THE CAMPAIGN: Chapter 1-"The Dragons in the Desert"

Chapter 1:

You are all gang members of the same gang. You live in the massive city of Dunderstank. The city is ruled by a tyrant named Lord Neil. His dark tower can be seen from any part of the city and is easily taller then any of the other buildings by more than 4 times their height. Times are tough in the city, and you have be a criminal to survive. But Lord Neil's Templars are ever ready to slay anyone committing even the smallest of crimes.


Your hideout has just been raided and it's safe to say that you 4 are the only ones from your gang that survived. You managed to escape the Templars and hide in an alley way. Things seem to have died down now and you have to think of what your next move will be.


Rats are milling about in this alley way too. They seem interested in the contents of the barrels. An old merchant is watching your party from across the street. He seems annoyed by your presences. A few more people can be heard nearby but are out of sight.

Ehaism is paralyzed with rage. He is furious about the raid, and ashamed about running away, and that makes him even more furious. He is holding his sword with both hands, as if he is ready to smash something right now, but he is actually not doing anything at all, and isn't likely to do anything until he has has a minute to calm down.

He doesn't want to talk about it.

Kytana Darkblade, a lowly ranked rouge, fills himself with the rage, if only to distract himself from the fact his bride is presumably dead. He looks at the others, then, trying to get their attention, motions towards the rats and makes a chopping motion.
He waits.

Vire unsheathes his dagger and silently impales a rat, sticking its corpse in his pack for later consumption. He then takes interest in the barrels and begins to inspect them.

Wordlessly, he orders his hawk-familiar Liev to the skies to keep watch for the party.

Echo focuses his minds eye on the hideout to see if there were any survivors left behind, using his Clairvoyant Sense to scan the hideout.

(Echo spends 3 power points. I'm apparently not keeping track of them, but I'll have that on my character sheet tonight).

Vire, you find garbage in the barrels. They seem to be from the INN that you're currently standing behind. It's mostly broken dishes and animal bones. The other rat flees.

Echo Reisa, you see the abandoned building that was once your hide out. A Templar, that seems a bit overwieght for his class, is carrying what seems to be left of your stores out the front door. The whole hideout has been stripped bare. Only the bodies of your fellow gang members, now stripped off all their valuables, are left in the building.

vire's hawk - success

The sound of a group of footsteps seem to be hurrying toward you.

Vire motions around the corner for the others to hide. Liev falls into a swoop towards the source of the footsteps.

Ehaism doesn't move. He noticed that Vire made some sort of gesture, but he didn't hear anything. He would like to hit something with his sword. The barrels don't seem like they would be very satisfying to hit.

Momentarily startled that he was apparently too busy being magically omniscient to notice something, Echo tries to play it cool



He uses his Precognition to get a glimpse of what's to come, then readies his crossbow.

(This takes a power point, bringing him down to 24/27)

having said this, he approaches the nearest barrel.

Soon everyone is aware of the source of the sound. A single Rat Man appears from behind the wall up ahead.

Liev sees 7 more rat men, 2 of which are on the roof to the parties left.




Momoka Sees:
You see an attack. You're well aware of the 8 total Rat Men and there current locations. You also foresee a swarm of rats bursting out of top middle barrel. Your party is sure to be gravely injured if something isn't done.

Kytana says

Kytana moves four spaces towards the hawk.

Ehaism moves directly towards the Rat-man who spoke.



he growls something in draconic.

(Vire understands draconic:)
hell no!

Sensing that Ehaism won't stop long enough for Vire to negotiate, Vire takes a step north and unleashes a crossbow bolt on the nearest ratling from behind the barrels.



Liev dives at one of the ratmen on the roof.
