Just need to voice my opinion here;
Replacing old content with new content isn't really "New" content, in my opinion. It's just "old content, but better",. There's no question that a lot of work needs to go into giving a full RPG a facelift, but a facelift doesn't constitute any amount of new content in my opinion, and the game should ineligible
There shouldn't be any sort of exception to the rules; just because the game is huge, and the updated graphics are a load of work, doesn't mean the game should be given any extra credit than one that's 30 minutes long and had a facelift, in terms of eligibility

Not enough people use this to make it helpful, and too many that do just give everything a 1 or a 5, skewing the averages rather horribly.
Could Hamster Speak have a review rating system? If so, could Slime Salad's ratings also include a Hamster Speak rating next it?
I have now idea how/if it could be done (or if it's even a good idea), but showing ratings from reviewers who take the time to write an article for Hamster Speak could give a potential player a more reliable expectation.

Gonna go play those Tales games now. Has anyone finished them yet?
I walked outside of the first town and got owned. It was sad. Then again, I didn't shop around for items, so I deserved it. If the game is as big as its world map says it is, I may be playing for awhile...

The reviews in Hamsterspeak and on Slime Salad are intentionally freeform. I don't personally feel that attaching a number to your opinion adds anything to the review.
Rankings are another matter altogether. It takes no effort to vote on a game. If you want to help out in that respect, here's where to start. (Incidentally, we have only four games without votes -- much fewer than I'd have guessed.)
Mega Tact v1.1
Super Penguin Chef
Wizard Blocks

I really personally hate number score reviews, whether they be amateur or professional. A thumbs up/down system is as close to that as ever I like to get. I feel like number scores make people less likely to pay attention to the meat of the review and just focus on the number.

Hmm, never really thought about it that way, good point.
How are everyone's games coming along?
EDIT: That's the last time I post something stupid while I'm distracted by people talking to me.

I'm drawing monsters

Old Surlaw vs. New
The style's pretty heavily different, but I really prefer the new one.
I don't want to flood this thread with my stuff, so there's more here: http://www.superwalrusland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=639

Surlaw! You're doing Surlaw Armageddon for the H.o.t.OHr contest? Neat.
You're not on the Bug fix request page though... Don't you want a bug fixed or a feature added?!

I can't think of any off the top of my head aside from the engine going berserk when you import MP3s, and they're already working on that.

Surlaw,
The new Bob reminds me of a Simpsons character. I love it.
He can take pride in knowing that he's half responsible for this contest, since the conversation he and I had about apparent declining appreciation for the RPG resulted in this. That's almost as good as any bugfix.
Okay, not really, but it's good to be content.
(This contest, by the way, is proving how wrong we were. I never dreamed so many people would be interested in it. Does that prove that RPGs on the OHR are rare these days, despite the acronym?)
And if anyone is struggling to find a good bugfix or feature, there are several out there that were voted on at one time that I'm sure several people would still love implemented. You could always look for the ones with the highest votes.
Or, if you want to make the host happy, you could always request "More Tags," which I hear is one of those difficult bugs and would probably yield a low ransom, or "Global Variables in Battles," which would be a lot easier, but better paired with Battlescripting. If I were entering, those would've been my request options. But it's not your job to make the host happy, so look for bugs with votes if you're struggling for ideas.

Actually if there's one feature I could have it would be a color replace feature for maptiles, to automatically turn all pixels of one color into another of your choice. Recoloring tiles with lots of pixel noise in them is kind of horrible.
That or an in-engine replica of PalEdit.exe
I'm glad people like New Bob. Progress on the game is going pretty swiftly.

THIS.
Since there's no alpha channel to work with, all of my shadows have to be colored in individually, which means replacing every existing pixel with a slightly darker one. Color replacement would be incredible.
Hey guys, after thinking about it awhile and seeing what other people had to say, I'm just going to go ahead and withdraw Tales 1 from the contest. I appreciate everyone's input on the issue.
And James, don't think you're being let off of getting rid of that item menu! I'm still planning on getting a Tales 2 update in before the end of the year!!!
