I've been thinking of leaking a bit more about my game.

First, I'd like you to see what I was originally going to do.

I've turned that game, into this one.

There's not much going on in this screen shot, but I plan to add more graphics here.

My game is basically a fancy Tech Demo. But I'm not sure If I should reveal what it's a tech demo of yet.

EDIT: meh.... behold the spoiler!

Haha. Seinfeld. But what you are working on instead looks awesome!

I have a rather silly joke game in the works.

It contains:
* 133 text boxes
* 1 slice collection
* no sprites of any kind
* no maps
* no heroes, enemies, or attacks
* 76 backdrops (so far)
* is (barely) educational

Looks promising. Any game with dead zombies, is a good game.

Mighty ironic that Left 4 Dead's zombies aren't undead, just infected.

Well, if it's anywhere near as good as your other educational titles...

So...I've been wondering, how exactly is this contest being judged? Because this is a contest about making games you're a fan of something of, are you going to have like 2 scores for each game and average them together? Like one for overall game, and one for fan devotion or fanship or whatever?

I see your point. It wouldn't be fair if everyone voted for the "twilight" game just because they like twilight. The winning game could very well be awful if voting turns that way. However, giving the games a fan score is basically assuring that the games are voted on based on "fanship". So, I don't think that's a very good solution. Unfortunately, in a contest like this, there may be some fan based votes, but this is always the case. If any of these games were entered into another contest, they'd receive the same fan votes as they would here. Thankfully, it's looking like a lot of really popular ideas are being done, so I think the fan votes will end up being split and basically result in nothing.
I would like to take this chance to urge people not to vote for the games in this contest based on the topic the participant choose, but on the quality of their entry. Thank you.

Also... Because I've heard a lot of complaints about the RGC voting, can you kinda make it so that a voters votes don't count unless they vote for all of the games? This way every game gets a fair vote and not a default one.

I believe I answered this in the opening post:
Quote:
You don't have to vote for every game in the contest, and the final score entries receive will be taken from a combination of the average score it received and the bonus points it earned.

Despite living in Florida, I have no plans to throw out votes. Since the final scores will be an average of all the votes it received, it's very possible that the game that receives the least votes will in fact be the winner. If a game receives 1 vote of 10 and no other votes, It will most likely win. Just because a voter doesn't have time to play all the games, I'd rather they voice their opinion of the ones they did play, and leave the scores of the games they didn't play alone. That's the plan.

Some day we need to do contest voting using the Condorcet method like the Debian project uses.... however, implementing a Schulze-set heuristic in plotscripting would probably be taking things too far :)

The Condorcet method is summarized as:

Debian wrote:

Consider all possible two-way races between candidates. The Condorcet winner, if there is one, is the one candidate who can beat each other candidate in a two-way race with that candidate.

In this voting method, voters just rank all the entries in order. If they don't vote for everybody it isn't a big deal.

1 Aerosmith vs. The Care Bears
2 The Terminator in Wonderland
3 Not So Super Mario Bros.
4 Seinfeld teaches typing
5 Classical Music Rocks

It would also be valid for somebody to vote like:

1 The Terminator in Wonderland

If they didn't play or didn't like any of the other entries.

So voting in this method is super easy... The hard part is counting the ballots. that is where the Condorcet method comes into play. It is possible to count the ballots by hand, but for any large number of voters and large number of choices, you would have to be a masochist to try. Normally you use software to count the votes. There are a few programs floating around that can do this automatically, but I guess usually groups who are using Condorcet voting tend to like to program their own version, because groups who use Condorcet voting are almost invariably groups of supernerds :)

What is so funny about their chins? I gave Batman a really strong chin, cause I mean, he's always had one in a lot of the drawings and cartoons I've seen of him. It's a cartoony style.

For what it's worth, I like Robin there. He's got this wisecrackiing, smug look about him that just seems to fit his character.
To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.

Well, I for one see nothing wrong with their chins.
