Your art suggests that the Mushroom Kingdom should look a little like Wonderland (from Alice and Wonderland). I'd start there.

Hey, I'm planning on entering (starting tonight actually) and I have a pretty good idea. Since the contest ends on the 15th, which is a Tuesday, do you think maybe you could make it a little more accessible and maybe make it by end of day Sunday the 20th? I kinda want to give my game all the time I can to make it good.

Having had more then a couple people voice concern over the deadline of the contest, I've decided to extend the contest till the 20th, (as per RMZ's suggestion)
This is the LAST day you can upload games. However, voting doesn't start then. Early voting and early submissions are perfectly acceptable. The voting thread will still be posted on the 16th.
This should give people a little more time to play the early games so they can have more time for the later submissions.
