The long and short of it is that it's an RPG with a time-based turn based battle system (think Final Fantasy but with variable time bars based on what skills are being used) and heavy emphasis on resource conservation in the form of water.
The plot is minimal (we're looking at maybe 5 cutscenes plus the main character talking to himself) so most the focus is on battles and exploration. That also makes the soundtrack pretty small looking at 6-8 main tunes along with a few jingles.
There is no monetary compensation, we're just making a cool game together. Frequent IRC access would be preferred since that's what virtually all communication with regards to game development goes on, but other communication channels can be arranged.
The old demo we released is available here (a much newer version is also around which sports much more tightly designed maps among other things and can be sent upon request):

Screenshots of the newer version:
Stylistically we'll pretty much take on anything that you think might work (basically we're looking for a composer willing to bring his own creativity to the table rather than slavishly copying existing templates or following raw instructions), but you'll need to work in OGG/MP3 format or most any mod format (IT etc). The game is made in ika, not the OHRRPGCE, so MIDI isn't supported.
Ideally a sample track of battle music or desert music would be desired prior to hiring, but tracks written for other games would also be acceptable for preliminary interest. The descriptions for these tunes from the original music guide are as follows:
Desert - Searing, continuous heat. Thirst. Lonely, slow work.
Battle - Dramatic change of pace from the field themes. Fast paced, rocking beat.
