Hey everybody,
I've tried making the OHR reality shows a couple times before. And they all ended up too complicated and I even got confused watching them. But this time my attempt is a spin-off of JSH's OHR House, taking 9 famous OHR heroes and putting them in a house together. It's not entirely a spin-off though. It takes place around the same timeline as the third season.
So give it a shot and let me know what you think. I worked pretty hard on it and hope I stayed true to all of the housemates in there.
And by the way, voting ends for Week One on June 23 (one week from today!)
Thoughts:
Kyle, Bob, Rancher Sam, and Julia all have nearly the same personalities. Maybe it's me, but they don't seem any different.
Housemaster isn't nearly annoying enough. But he is getting there.
Mr. Triangle is exactly how he should be, which makes sense because you invented him.
I like Surlaw. I don't know who that fish guy is or what game he is from. Maybe someone can refresh me.
Actually Neke is almost the same as the four mentioned above. I always figured she'd be more of a slut in an OHR-house sense.
Julia should have been replaced by an angsty Infinity. Xerian in OHR-House season 3 is my favorite character by far.
So, overall it was entertaining, but a bit boring. Liven up the personallities, make them unique and over the top for their characters. Not to turn Julia into another Shadow, but she could be overly cautious to the point of paranoid personality disorder. I think you have a good start, the characters just need to be a lot more interesting.
So far my favorite character is Powerstick Man. He's funny. Then probably Surlaw, even though he doesn't do anything exciting.
I dunno if i'm allowed to vote in the thread, but i'm too lazy to pm so...I vote Kyle gets the boot. He's boring.
Luigi is almost as sexy as me!

I can kinda see what you're talking about. I think some of the scenes I had were interesting, but none of them besides the Housemaster attack ones really helped develop the characters as much as I woulda liked as much. So one thing I will definitely work on for Week 2 is creating those specific situations. Thanks for the feedback, it's actually exactly the kinda stuff I was looking for.
EDIT: The "fish" guy is S.Kikraizer. He was one of the main characters from Trailblazers, made by Retrogamer.

Thoughts as I play:
-The walkabouts look great. Bob kind of looks like a bear, but it's a well drawn sprite.
-There's no point in censoring one of the letters in "shitty" considering some of the other content. Besides, everyone can see what it says when it's just one letter removed.
-I loved hearing the Wario Ware music for Housemaster.
-Surlaw's "You're naked" made me laugh. "Didn't you used to be a towel?" was also great.
-Little details like Sam's clothes being hung up when he was asleep were great. Also, the sheep in his room.
-PM's the best character in the game, I love his terrible jokes.
-Some of the music is WAY louder than others.
-I liked the Plip scene.
-Julia and Kyle are boring, but the rest of the cast is either funny or shows potential. Housemaster is horribly annoying, but in the right way.
The pacing is good, and I think it was a fine introduction episode. The variety of environments kept it interesting, and I'm looking forward to where it goes next.
Also, do all of the paintings represent something? I recognize a bunch, but not all of them.

Thanks. There have been a bunch of mixed reviews for this so far, and I'm kinda glad the votes are going the way they are instead of one specific way.
Regarding the paintings, most all of them are OHR-related. Like, in the Welcome Room, you'll see the picture you did of Walrus-Man, and there's the Slime from my comic, and Bob's cactus. Every room in the house features a different painting. Hell, in the Living Room, there's a painting of Poptart hanging up.
I'm glad you enjoyed it though. I have BIG plans for Week 2.
With any luck, I can have a new episode out every other week, or at worst, every 3 weeks.

I'll echo the general comments in this thread. Kyle is uninteresting. Some of the characters got way more screen time than others. Kyle, Julia, and Neke don't feel really developed. Housemaster is on the other hand the best-developed character right now, which makes him impossible to vote off.
All in all, this was a surprisingly good episode and I'll look forward to the next week.

It feels like you are constraining the story and character relationships to fit the persona's of the characters. You should just let loose and have the characters be wild and crazy. OHR-House's humor lay in the fact that the characters weren't the actual community members, but over-the-top parodies. This meant it was twice as funny; first we were laughing at "ourselves" being presented as so over the top, and second these over-the-top characters were entertaining in and of themselves, which is why even people unfamiliar with the OHR community found the game at least somewhat entertaining.
Just a thought. I think you have tons of humor potential here, but you are holding yourself back. Offend the game creators; make their characters be horrible, misconstrued versions of their original selves. Let loose, and it'll be bloody brilliant.
I watched it again, and Powerstick Man is by far the funniest character. I'm glad he comes back every week.
Edit: Don't think I didn't like it; I thought it was solid entertainment and will watch Week 2 for sure. I'm just saying you have lots of untapped potential here. I think you'll get in the groove eventually, though.

More people need to use this site's voting feature, because it's ridiculous that this game was sitting at 1/5 stars.

Pretty good, Red. The show itself was typical, but the subtext throughout a couple of the interactions were priceless.
I actually liked Housemaster a lot. He stood out among the others in my opinion.
Kyle was lame, but the whole curiosity ("what's that funny feeling I have?") bit during the Neke scenes were subtly brilliant.
Rancher Sam should've been older. Someone needed maturity and I think he was the best candidate for that.
The premise for Bob the Hamster (the celebrity) is good, but the execution is weak. I'd almost want to see him walk around with a swelled head.
Surlaw was another one of my favorites. For a hardened adventurer, he sure seems pretty non-adventurous. I find that funny.
Kikraiser has the best music.
Again, like Surlaw, the total paradox in character of Neke being otherwise normal while walking around naked in a houseful of guys (who seem pretty neutral around her for the most part) is hysterical.
Julia is okay so far. Seems kinda cliche at the moment. I'm half expecting her to break out a collection of stuffed animal heads to show off her darkside.
Mr. Triangle was well-subdued for what could've been a volatile characterization. He's probably my third favorite.
Powerstick Man: Really? As host? In the same year that I'm hosting House 3? What're you all trying to tell me here exactly? Those jokes are pleasantly awful, by the way. I loved the "Office" reference.
Just a reminder for anyone making an episodic OHR Movie this year: the next Epic Marathon starts in three months and will be dealing with this kind of game. Any episodic game not yet finished when the contest starts will be automatically eligible for entry.

Heh, thanks Pepsi. I'm glad some people did manage to appreciate the very little things I put into the show. I tried to set up a few interesting things to happen for Week 2, depending on which one of the two stays.
Also... one thing nobody mentioned. WHY, did S.Kikraizer vote for Bob the Hamster?
And for anyone that didn't catch the references to other OHR games in the Living Room, the Orange "PlayStation" type thing is actually the "Hamster Wheel" that James spoke of a while back. With Smash Bros. OHR on the screen (Bob the Hamster against Mr.Triangle).Then there are arcade games of classic OHR games (and one of mine just because I could, heh), Scare Spree, OHR-PacMan, and finally, Spit Wars. I know it wasn't out on the titles of em, but that's what they are intended to be.
