Today:
Created 2 more sprites for Paul
Made the "Feint Box" only visible when focused, and transparent. That's that black circle around your character that shows how close you need to be to a bullet to graze feint it. It's bigger now, too.
Made "hitbox" graphic which shows while focused. Though it's actually just one pixel now.
Enemy bullets are erased after taking damage. Bullets erased by any means make particles now.

Well, the extra boss MIGHT be a little girl. Whom I may have created as a joke in an old Castle Paradox contest involving final bosses.

Only a tiny bit of work on the portrait. I'm going to be worrying about college a lot this week, and GOING to college the week after that. I might have to cut corners more, like not shading the portraits. Sad

Electronics Technology

Today:
Finished outlining the portrait. I was really having a block at this step, so I've deemed it unimportant for now. I need to get started on actual danmaku! At least enough for level 1.

I'm sure listening to Touhou 12 music will help. Surprised

Today:
Fixed a bug where the boss's timeline didn't reset position between attacks. I didn't notice until now because the placeholder attack was so monotonous. V
Created a test environment for Spell Patterns. I haven't yet decided whether or not to include a Spell Practice mode in the final product.
Created slightly less basic danmaku. Practiced messing around with Game Maker's functions and variables, such as controlling bullets and gravity changing.

Fixed a bug where minions weren't being erased by the Spell Pattern ending.

Okay, college is really starting to set in now. Today I had to buy lots of stuff and get my car fixed, and now I'm sure I have to wake up at 5:30 am at least three times a week. So I doubt I'll be staying up much more.

Gah, I still have close to a week, I gotta make SOMETHING!

5....are you a freshman, or just masochistic? How the hell do you gotta wake up at 5:30 MWF?

The earliest I had to wake up to college was 7am, and in my senior year I managed to have my earliest class at 11:30. I didn't even party; sleeping late is part of the college "thing".

The second it hits you that classes aren't mandatory, you're going to have a hell of a time getting up for every one, unless you live at home.

Today, I had to finish getting ready for college, and enjoyed my last day of summer vacation. I guess I'll take the time to explain my schedule. Why? Because even after this contest is over, I still want to work on this game, and in order to motivate me, I need this thread to nag at me.

So Monday and Tuesday, I wake up early, spend more than 1 hour driving both ways, and 10 hours at school, including breaks and lab-time. That's more than a full-time job, so I hereby declare that no game work will be done on Monday or Tuesday, and this thread won't be updated.

Friday is early, but only 3 hours. Thursday is just 1.5 hours around Noon. Wednesday and Weekends off. So I should be able to do gamework just fine the rest of the week.

Why is the schedule so bad? I had no say in the matter, that's why. In fact, it's so bad, there are two classes Tuesday that are AT THE SAME TIME. AND MANDATORY THIS SEMESTER. So... the schedule might not be final.

Find another student who lives near you to carpool with. Save gas money, and you can game-make in the car on your non-driving days!

Created another pattern with beams, reworking some elements used

I feel that's enough Danmaku work for a while. Some of these will be in the demo. I'll think about stage 1 now (which by definition will be short and easy).

Yeah, I'm absolutely sure I'm the only one in my class commuting at all. I was also right about the schedule being changed up. It turns out I don't need the Mon-Tues afternoon class, so I'm replacing it with a long math class on Friday. Classes seem to be better spread out now, so I think I can get stuff done on Monday and Tuesday.

Today:
Redid the coding for how background effects are handled
Made a cheap background for stage 1

I just realized I've forgotten about the backgrounds until now, so today was dedicated towards them.
