Whats the criteria for this? In the authors view the game is seen as complete but because of some expectations, others may not think so.

What I'm asking is if the game is complete if you finish the story line?

Dude, the game is considered complete, if you don't open it the next day and work on it some more. Heh, that's what James is going for on this, am I right?

It's a game with no furthur updates basically.

This is not a complicated term. If it's a finished game -- if the player can play from the beginning to the end -- then it's complete. You know what these words mean.

i posted this contest in my twitter, on the tigsource forums, and in the tigsource irc room in hopes of getting more people involved, so if it breaks james paige's bank by suddenly forcing him to pay $5 for hundreds of finished games, blame me i guess ;_;

"I will be supplying the prizes. If anyone wants to richen the pot by volunteering additional money or other prizes for any of the three prize categories, just say so. "

i can also offer a copy of my game "immortal defense" to anyone who completes a game, if that's all right

Aha! Our first non-ohrrpgce entrant. Welcome, Bezzy!

Since DammitimmaD appears to be a storyless action game and not an RPG, it would help a lot if you could explain your plans for this game. For RPGs it is fairly easy to judge completeness by how the story unfolds to a conclusion, but for a shooter it is a little more subjective.

Haha! Darn you, Rinku! I hope if things get *too* crazy some other people will step in and help me supply the prizes. I am already looking at dishing out $150 if every current entrant makes it to "complete".

Actually though, this is okay so far, and I am really excited to see people so motivated :)

Cool! I will make a note of that in the first post.

Hey guys. Kind of busy with group projects right now but I will nominate one of my unfinished games and post its current state sometime. Expect some shooty game occuring in space.

No, it will not be in oohprpcprecrgcre. You can thank Rinkuhero for pointing this compo out to non-oohcrpewtfcrpgcerg people.

Also if you are breaking the bank, I will forgo the $5 prize, that's really just peanuts to me.

Thing is, being that it is a part of the voting, that's a question that will probably fall to each individual to answer. So, while you may not be able to finish every idea you had for the game, as long as you make the voters think the game is complete, you'll be eligible for the $5.

Now, whether "publicly agreed" means a complete consensus or just a majority decision would be a question actually worth asking.

Hmmm. I guess I should have clarified that. I think we will have a large enough pool of voters that a simple majority vote on completeness will be fine. Does anybody have any objections to that?

Welcome, nihilocrat! Let me know which game you choose, and I will add you to the list.

As for the bank, it doesn't look likely to be broken yet, but we shall see :)

And now that we have non-ohrrpgce games in the mix looks like I am going to have to borrow a Windows box when judging time rolls around :P

If you are running linux it could be trivial to make binaries for that platform, depending on which particular game I choose.

Some day I need to get around to compiling Python-Ogre anyways (8 hour build-time!).

LOL, It's fine. I assumed that anyways. Though, if you want I can work on indigo's script in my spare time. I'm kind of over the whole ( you should learn to do it on your own ) thing. I think it was just the stress of the deadline of the last contest, and the fact that My own project had some major structural flaws.

( The game I mean is Light Fight. The flaw(s) I'm referring to is layering of NPCs. I couldn't for the life of me come up with a good way of making the character that should be in front actually appear on top when he's suppose to. Thus, I came up with the quick fix of making all the people outlines, and Light Fight was born. This is the reason I'm not entering that game in this contest. Nor am I ever likely to work on that game again. If anyone wants to see the script to potentially expand on the genre I'd be glad to send you a copy.)

Anyways, back to the topic, this contest. I'm always thrilled when something brings new people to the community. However short their stay may be. I'd like to thank rinku for helping us to branch out. And, a Big Thanks to James, for making, what seems to be, the best community contest ever.
