I'm just gonna say... I love you (in a completely heterosexual way of course).

I went online to Pokemon.com and you can actually change the form of it with meteors from Veilstone City. I'm gonna go up and get mine now.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

No problem, it seemed underpublicized to me. I hope there's a Lugia and Ho Oh event sometime, or the rumors of G/S remakes for the DS are true. (this rumor is substantiated by the fact that hackers have found a bitset in the pokemon data where it specifies where it arrived from via pal park. One of the option is 'Arrived from Johto' Surprised)

Gold and Silver were actually my favorite of the series I'd say. The Gym leaders were a different order, like... hell the first gym was a flying type gym and you really had no idea what gym you'd encounter next.

And the world was huggggge. Red and Blue's world was so small in comparison. FR/LG was only big because they added so much extra stuff. A G/S DS game would be amazing.

I do know, Pokemon Platinum is coming out this fall though. Keep us posted on any G/S facts you might get!

Well, the Johto part of the game was.

Kanto was really stale in comparison.

The fact that they included Kanto was jaw-dropping at the time, especially since RBY didn't have much post-game content. The only disappointing part of GS was that you could only fight Red/Blue/Ash/whoever once. That was a great battle, especially since I wasn't expecting it, and it was like "Holy crap level 80 Pikachu"

Smogon recommends Deoxys-S, by the way.

You can only fight Red once? I didn't play Gold till last year, and decided to skip Kanto because I wasn't going to be able to make use of any of the Pokemans I trained up due to no compatibility between Gens 1/2 and 3.

Deoxys-S is good, Smogon considers him to be OU, which basically means that he's allowed in normal fights. The other forms are Uber and therefore considered unfair.

I would probably skip using ANY legendary in a WiFi battle out of courtesy, unless my opponent and I agreed that they were OK from the get-go. I use Deoxys-A to sweep in-game, and once I have enough level 100s, he'll be helping to destroy the competition in PBR.

As far as G/S remakes are concerned:

Trademark controversy wrote:
Although it has been stated that Nintendo trademarked the names DuskGold and DawnSilver, there is no evidence showing they have ... There are also two other similarly unused trademarks that Nintendo and Game Freak own, Pocket Monsters WhiteGold and Pocket Monsters MoonStone, however this was trademarked alongside Pocket Monsters Topaz, Amethyst, and Tourmaline.

So I guess Nintendo didn't trademark anything. Nintendo/GameFreak also have the habit of trademarking ANY potential names because why not, I guess. The article DOES have pictures of some hacked Chikoritas from Johto, though!

Eh... I hate this philosophy. Why ban legendaries that aren't overpowered? Nobody likes to have to ban things. Don't forget that if you ban legendaries that aren't Uber, you may alienate people that may actually LIKE these Pokemon, and aren't just using them because they're good.

I would never play against someone that banned all Legendaries. I always felt it was unnecessary and unfair to some people.

1) I should have said Ubers. You are correct in that a lot of legendaries are not Uber.

2) I never said that I would say to an opponent, "You can't use X". I said I, myself, would not throw in an Uber unless THEY were OK with it; it doesn't go both ways for me. This is because I EV train, reset for good natures, and plan crazy movesets, including on my Ubers.

Yeah, it works both ways too. Wobbuffett is almost always considered Uber and he isn't legendary at all.

A buddy of mine once said Metagross was uber. But i mean, you can raise just about any Pokemon to be good if you breed em right and give em the right moves and items.

Can you trade Pokemon via PBR?

Metagross isn't uber, but he happens to be very effective against a lot of legendaries. The only OU Pokemon that I would consider classifying Uber would be Garchomp who, ironically, totally fails against ubers in general but is a staple in most OU teams.

And not every Pokemon can compete, sadly--make no mistake. Beedrill is always going to be awful, no matter how much effort you put into raising it.

MOST of the bug types are beyond awful. They're only meant to be good early in the game, which kinda bothers me that some of them appear much later in the game and still suck.

It still bothers me that they make all these Pokemon that are "cute and useless". The electric squirrel sucks, and all the flowery things. Pluse and Minun are stupid. Aside from legendaries, there haven't been that many new good Pokemon compared to the bad ones.

I was about to argue that, but then I realized the only member of my serious fighting team that's actually from DP is Staraptor.

The thing that annoys me is that they have so many duplicates. Did we really need more Normal/Flying? What was wrong with the 15 we have already? Do we really need more three-stage suckbugs? Why do we need to clone Pikachu with every generation? And why are the starters always Fire, Grass, and Water?

At least we find constancy in Zubat, who has been the faithful occupant of caves the world over since day one.
