OH MAN YOU GUYS
SEREBII DOT NET JUST UPDATED
Several new Pokemon have been leaked, with little tidbits about new attacks and abilities.
The new faces:
A Chinchilla
A Piggy Bank
A pair of Gears
An actual Pigeon because Pidgey is dumb and doesn't count
A Rape Ape
A Zebra
And an Evil Crocodile
Check 'em on out!
Also, the Black and White legendary mascots? They're also Electric and Fire, respectively. There is NO WAY you would have been able to tell before now. Also, they don't have Pressure as an ability! Yay?

I'm kida worried that the 5th gens gona be a peice a crap. No offense I am a very Very huge Pokemon fan. But look at the new starters! They look scared and terrified, as if they've been sexually abused. But then my inner Nintendo/Pokemon Worshiper tells me that it's all gona be fine. That there's screwed up Pokemon in every gen.

Honestly. If they want to make the series better, they need to up it to like 1000 Pokemon. And not just all crap ones like they usually do. They need a couple different variations of Pokemon for each species of animal on the planet.
Also, it looks like they are trying way too hard with these new monsters. Serebii.net showed like half a dozen or more new ones today. The only thing I like right now is the firey eyebrow thing.

The heck? Blaziken has one of the worst designs of any of the starters' final evolutions. It's so lazy and over-dramatic. Honestly it reminds me of a Sonic character.

The game's target audience is children, -and 1000 pokemon might be a bit overwhelming. Eventually the number's going to exceed 1,000, and to compensate, less attention is given to each particular pokemon.
The series is basically moving from "Quality" to "Quantity". I mean, I remember how intrigued and fascinated by each individual pokemon I used to be, but It's just not like that any more.

If they do it right, it won't be a problem. Giving kids lots of different monsters to choose from is a great idea. I mean, it's pretty lame that most people you play use the same crap to an extent. If there's a bunch of good, useful Pokemon, then it'll mean kids have to think harder about their party. I don't see what's bad about having 1000+.
Oh, no, more choice is always better! What I'm saying, is if the rest of the choice is crap, then it pretty much narrows it back down to everybody picking so-and-so. On top of that, keeping up with all the different information on all the different pokemon would be especially hard for first-timers, so there'll likely be less information to keep track of. Which makes the whole mess less intriguing and compelling.
Also, unless they do some major balancing act to give all pokemon more equal grounds, then no matter how many there are, kids will always use the most powerful.

That's why they need to do it just right.
If they make 500 new Pokemon, then the new generation of Poke-nerds will see them and will likely be as good with them as we were when R/B/G/S came out originally. This satisfies old fans, and gives new fans something to learn. Since most old fans have the formula down pat. If this new Pokemon region had none of the old ones, it'd be literally like everyone was starting fresh.
They won't do it right. They'll make their stupid "cute" throwaways, and most of the Pokemon won't be worth using beyond filling out your Pokedex. I have little hope in this working, it would just be nice if they would have actual longtime fans of the series help produce the game. We know what we want out of a game. They're shooting in the dark.

It looks like we're arguing, but we're really both saying the exact same thing.
I don't know how feasible It would be, but I think It would be cool if they allowed two (Or more) players to actually explore the pokeverse together. Enforcing multiplayer that's always kinda forcing you to compare your choice of pokemon against your friend's could have a pretty respectable impact on all the "Everybody has the same" stuff, I think. (You never wanna have the same pokemon as your friend, y'know.)

That would be fun. To have a full multiplayer, Pokemon experience. Your friends could be wandering the world or in the shops buying stuff. Make it look like you're not the only striving Pokemon champ in the making.
That's probably years ahead of our time right now.
Check out Red Triangle Games!
