So, finally settling in for the Elite Four, I took the team I'd been training against my rival. The match-up played out better than I ever could have hoped.
Weavile OHK'd Staraptor with Avalanche. After I realized Avalanche was a low-priority move, I kind've regretted giving it to her (I had to get something better than Icy Wind so bad and Avalanche was the best-looking Physical Ice TM I had), being Weavile's all Speed and Attack and nothing else (her defense is mediocre, but her Spec.Attk is sadder than the saddest song; she's only kept Dark Pulse so far because I haven't thought of a good replacement move, also STAB+Dread Plate), but he used Aerial Ace and I lucked out
also on second though i would've been better off training a Skuntank or Drapion really, resistance to Bug and Fight would've been great
Staraptor Brave Birded Heracross into oblivion, no trouble
Torterra had some trouble with Floatzel's Ice Fang, because I need to replace Razor Leaf with something better, but he made it happen
Charizard happily Flamethrower'd Roserade
Alakazam took Infernape down the same way he'd done everything since lv.40
And Machamp dominated Snorlax with Low Kick
(oh my god i love that move so much and the fact that it's his starting move makes it even better; this was way better than the time he took down the insane HP of a Blissey ten levels his superior with a single Cross Chop)
Next, the four themselves!
though seriously i might want to get Weavile and Staraptor to lv.50 first

Wood Hammer. Get a heart scale and go to the move tutor in Pastoria. It has recoil damage but it is (if I am not mistaken) the most powerful physical grass-type move in the game*

Is this the one I gave you? Glad to see you're using it, although I'd have gone with Fire Fang to reap the benefits of Dragon Dance.
* I say 'most powerful' because due to the recoil, it's not quite the best. The best would probably be Leaf Blade.

It's annoying when they do that, with starting moves that the guys never learn on their own. Same thing happened to Crobat with Cross Poison.

It is definitely the same one. EXP boosts on traded guys made putting him as one of my strongest a quick job, and the scarcity of Fire-types in the Sinnoh Dex made him invaluable. Reason I stuck with Flamethrower is his Special being about 20 or 30 points higher than his Attack. As soon as I finally got a Special attack, I loved it more than anything.
Anyway, I was gonna train them up a bit more, but I wanted to know how much a chance I stood at that moment, so I moved on.
The Four went by without much fanfare, to my surprise. Charizard tore through Aaron, except for Alakazam Miracle Eye/Psychicing Drapion, and I might've let Weavile at Beautifly. Torterra took an X Attack and dominated Bertha. Things almost got scary against Flint, with Torterra's Earthquake being my best chance against Rapidash, but Sunny Day just makes Synthesis so much better and all Rapidash did was Bounce. Alakazam tried out-ghosting Drifblim, but Ominous Wind got him in the end, leaving only Charizard to take Monferno. It was a close match, but Flint ultimately fell by throwing the wrong punch. Lucian was a bit rougher, having to toss between Weavile's Night Slash and Alakazam's Shadow Ball to accommodate all the switching Medicham was doing, and it eventually fell to Torterra to Crunch on Lucian's own spoon-bender. A thrill, but ultimately the guy didn't have a chance.
And then there was Cynthia. Jesus Christ.
Spiritomb almost took Machamp between the Psychic I wasn't expecting and a goddamn Full Restore, but Low Kick is surprisingly effective on a ghost you'd expect not to weigh much. Roserade burnt up, Lucario thought he could get away with a Special on Alakazam, and lost the chance he might've gotten from not being weak to Psychic. And Garchomp, well, he almost got me, but he didn't expect one thing:
My Staraptor is the greatest thing ever.
He's level 49.
Cynthia's Garchomp is level 66.
Garchomp had already killed my two strongest guys, overpowering Charizard (the problem with Outrage is you can't stop to heal) and being motherfucking faster than Alakazam. I had two Max Revives. Staraptor was going to sacrifice himself to bring one of the stronger guys back. I chose Charizard and resigned Staraptor to his fate. Only Staraptor wasn't having none of that. He fucking avoided a Giga Impact, making his sacrifice all the more great by bringing Alakazam back, too.
But this Staraptor, he doesn't feel the whole sacrifice thing. He avoids the next attack (i think it was Dragon Rush, the same one that killed Charizard)!
As a reward, I decide to let him go down fighting, but the guy must've ripped the Q out of his dictionary, 'cos he doesn't know how to quit. He withstands both a Giga Impact and the recoil from Brave Bird and goes on to murder the strongest enemy I've yet faced.
I almost feel bad for leaving him out of my party for so long after I got the Cobble Badge until I remember that it was because he'd been with me from the beginning and I didn't want him to become some undignified HM dump like his old buddy Bibarel.
SERIOUSLY, though. I love when this shit happens. I go into big fights underleveled just for this kind've experience!
weavile went on to do something similar against Milotic, but ultimately failed
that one went down by everyone sacrificing themselves to bring down it's hp enough that Torterra could finish it off and end it in a one-on-one with Gastrodon
It's so fitting that my starter is the guy who finished it

For his valor, Staraptor will be rewarded with the privilege of making babies with Pidgeot soon's I get a Slugma, especially if I ever want a combat worthy Pidgeot (lv.51 Pidgeys are unwieldly to train due to horrible stats; i was lucky enough to have a couple Rare Candies on hand).
This might be an awful question, I'll ask anyways.
That new stupid looking Pokemon Ranch thing or whatever it is. Can people trade using that? Because I kinda can't afford to set up a wi-fi area in my apartment and I'd like to be able to trade/battle with yal.
Could I do all of this through BR?

I can't afford internet at home, either, and I live on wi-fi.
Best thing to do is find a place near you that has a wireless network. I've got a coffee shop and a donut shop (Starbucks apparently makes you pay for the internet, but Starbucks is a piece of shit anyway). A lot of fast food places have them. Libraries are usually a good bet.
EDIT:
My Box 4 literally filled up overnight. My Dex is fuckin' gettin' there. Routes 225 and 226 are completely cleared.
Also, I got my first baby Turtwig. He's Jolly, which ain't bad considering his physical tendencies. Any takers?

I've got version exclusives up for trade if anyone has Pearl and needs 'em.
Seel and Scyther can go on the GTS pretty easy (usually works pretty well as long as i'm the one offering), but I've yet to see a Stantler, Spheal, Bagon or Houndour.
and i'm pretty sure i can get a Militank and Nidoman through breeding

NEW FEATURES:
- New Areas
- Entirely new Fight Area with a ton of WiFi stuff
- New forms for Giratina and Shaymin (Origin Forme and Sky Forme, respectively)
Here's a scan from CoroCoro showing 5 new forms of an unnamed existing pokemon.
Most theorize that these are new forms for Rotom. Rotom is one of my favorites.

At 0:33, I'm pretty sure I'm seeing some kind've different form of Garchomp in that double battle, and I have no idea what that thing is partnered with the Monferno. oh wait that's Empoleon isn't it
I've been pretty heavily looking forward to this since I first heard about it.
New Rotom forms sound awesome, and would kind've justify it's almost legendary presentation.
Can't breed Militanks from Tauros? Dammit, at least I can GTS it.
I hope my luck is better making Nidomans out of a Ladyran.

Hey guys, so I borrowed Sapphire off a friend and I just got a Tropius, who, with Tangela and all the previous starters and legendaries, can only be gotten through Pal Park.
Needless to say, I'll be breeding the shit out of it, so if anyone wants one, lemme know.
And if you can give me a Tangela or a Spiritomb for it, all the better.
I've also got all the starters from Gens 3 and 4 I can give away.

ROTOM FORMS REVEALED
These were the silhouettes I posted earlier.
From left to right:
Wash Form, Frost Form, Spin Form, Heat Form, and Cut Form.
Based on household appliances, each form has unique moves related to their 'type' (wash form has water, heat has fire, etc), but retain Rotom's electric/ghost typing. The forms also apparently have higher stats than Rotom's base form does.
I'm buying Platinum JUST FOR THIS.
Unfortunately the way to unlock Rotom's forms is with an EVENT ONLY ITEM called the 'Secret Key'. Nintendo can't possibly be big enough jerks to hold out THIS one from us.

I was seeing this and I'm so excited now! Platinum came out in Japan today, I might just have to see if I can't move that five dollars I have on spore to pre-order it. Since it'll likely be early next year when it comes out, I'm sure I can scrounge up the other thirty-five or so by then.
And this happens the same weekend I get every single breedable guy owned.
(except Manaphy/Phione; does anybody else have one? anything you might wanna trade for a Phione egg?)

All yes except I think it's a Toaster Oven.
