OP updated, new links:

http://www.serebii.net - Serebii's alright I guess.

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net - Pokémon Wiki

http://afx.cc/voltorb - Download Voltorb Flip Helper, for those of us who wish we could buy coins (this is close enough).

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=211989&st=0 - Send .pkm files from your own PC to the GTS on your cart via wifi. Useful if you missed an event, or are a cheater.

Heads up, you can download a new Pokéwalker course via Nintendo WFC until May 5th. It is Yellow Forest, which has only Pikachu in it. If you rack up 10,000 steps (7,500 if you are walking with an Electric, Ground, or Grass type) you can potentially catch a Pikachu who knows Surf, or one who knows Fly.

So I went and got SoulSilver. Now I can join the cool kids club.

Trying to figure out how to use the wifi. I have it set up and connected, but no one's in the union room. I imagine I'm connected to the whole internet, so how do I play with, for instance, people on this forum?

You have to get someone's friend code to battle or trade with him. It has to be written on your Pal Pad, which is a key item you may or may not have yet. I think you have to at least have the Zephyr Badge.

Also, if you can't get to the bottom floor of the Pokemon Center, you can't battle over Wi-Fi yet. The top floor is Wireless (as in, people within a few feet) only.

In the bottom floor,
The middle lady lets you trade with or battle other trainers. I recommend playing on L50 or 100 (100 is generally best) to even the playing field since everyone's always at different levels. Held Items do not get consumed here. One problem with battling here is that you can't set any clauses (like Sleep Clause) so it's not the best way to play competitively.

For instance, my friend code is 0303 2112 8518. If you wanted to trade with me, you'd have to enter that on your Pal Pad and I'd have to enter your friend code on mine.

If you wanna trade, by the way, I have tons of Pokes sitting around that I need to trade-evolve...

Okay, cool. I thought I was doing something wrong. I'll give you my friend code as soon as I get one. Maybe we can battle Kamina

In order to make the fights less rock-paper-scissory, I'm using the "set" battle mode, and trying to keep a consistent team (instead of going "Water gym, let's get Pikachu, Electribuzz, and Magneton in here).

It's working pretty well, even though I've only got the one badge yet.

Done deal. Do you have Heartgold or Soulsilver?

I have Heart Gold, and (I THINK) all of the Soul Silver exclusives I'm aware of. I just beat the Elite Four, and I have 135 caught. If you need me to breed anything you want for keeps, let me know.

If you happened to start with Totodile, I do not have one of them. None of the trainers in the game so far (oddly enough!) have used the Totodile line, so I haven't been able to get one off the GTS.

Has anyone gotten the Yellow Forest yet?

Or has anyone tried any of the exclusive stuff for the game from the downloadable Pokemon from D/P like the Jirachi or Pichu?

I just got Yellow Forest, will be trying it on Monday.
But I really don't NEED all those different kinds of Pikachu. I just got the Pokemon Battle Revolution specials, a Surfing Pikachu and a high-powered Electrivire, so I'm set.

BOYD'S FRIEND CODE:
0689-7653-3759

And baaaah, someone went and made a Voltorb Flip helper. I was getting to be a pro at that game too. In just a few days I made 30,000 coins in my spare time and I felt proud.

Oh well!

The Voltorb Flip helpers don't even work for me. I've found just using logic to take less time.

If anyone wants to trade/battle, let me know when. I'm open to most times of day since I work from home, heh.

I know I don't need them, but I have a friend who's whole strategy in Pokemon is to use cute annoying looking Pokemon (like every girl character that followed Ash around in the show), so if I have a Pikachu that can use Surf, he'll not only flip out with jealousy, but if I train it, I can beat him in a hilariously embarassing way.

According to Serebii, you can also get a Pikachu that knows fly from the Pikachu Forest. Teach it Surf as well, and really baffle him.

Random aside, Voltorb Flip would be a hundred times more entertaining if I could hear the Demoman shouting KA-BEEEUUWM! every time I lost.

But anyway, I just remembered something.
A while back I made it to Voltorb Flip level 8, and was getting 3000 or so coins a win.
But for some reason I can't get back up there! I keep advancing to level 7 over and over again. Anyone know why this is? Do I need a 7-win streak to make it to level 8?

Beats me! I've had the same problem as well. Luckily I've made it past the point where I need Voltorb Flip.

Re: Special Pikachus

I just found out that Pikachu can learn Grass Knot.
That makes Surf an even bigger novelty move. Because I know what we were all thinking, "Pikachu vs. Rhyperior / Golem / Steelix! Surf'll knock 'em dead!"
But it turns out Grass Knot does it better. Bhaaaaaa

Oh well, Fly helps take care of grass types, because nobody in their right mind is actually going to take the time to get Hidden Power Ice.

EDIT: If anyone wants to take the "deceptively worthless Pokemon" approach in battling, I'd recommend Bibarel. You'd be surprised what that tub of tub is capable of with its unique abilities, Simple and Unaware.

IT'S A WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON

(Except, y'know, replace slots with Voltorb Flip.)
