Yeah, IVs and breeding (especially finding the exact nature you need) can take forever. EV training is kinda fun, if repetitive. Pokemon would be so much better if everything was faster...

Yeah, finding the right nature is horrendous and its definitely where my dedication starts to wane. I've had a lot of cases of going for Adamant/Modest but settling for Jolly/Timid instead after filling up several PC boxes.

I think the people you see around who have Pokes with 31/31/25/etc/etc IVs on their dudes in a lot of cases hunted for dittos with freakish IVs and the right nature, which is just as insane and not something I'd be at all interested in doing.

While I generally have a problem with the way IVs/Natures are 'random' I don't see how it could be improved. Gen 4 and Emerald have come as close to letting you track EVs and IVs as the games can without spoiling the illusion that "no pokemon is alike! every pokemon is different!" for the little kids. If you did any more than that, you'd run the risk of making the franchise seem too complicated (or making said complexity obvious V ) and turning off the actual series-driving fanbase.

I have an EVd Pupitar named MURDERFACE and an EVd Charizard named BLARGG, both geared to physical atk and using dragon dance. I've since replaced them (hence why Murderface is still a pupitar) and if you want themx you're welcome to them.

If you want to really take on the battle tower, Breloom is highly reccomended with the following moveset:

Spore
Focus Punch
Leech Seed
Seed Bomb

Spore is a 100 accuracy sleep move and Focus Punch REQUIRES that you not get hit while it sets up, so they go hand-in-hand. Leech Seed is good for stalling and generally just wrecking dudes, and seed bomb's there as a reliable attack.
If Breloom has the Poison Heal ability, put a Toxic Orb on him and watch as he becomes "Badly Poisoned", which means he will start at RECOVERING 1/16th of his health per turn and move up to 15/16ths recovery per turn.

Breloom is very good for taking care of Milotic with Leech Seed (possibly to counterract Aqua Ring) and Seed Bomb.

I just might have an Adamant Shroomish for you, but I'd have to check.

You gave me a Shroomish a while back that I've evolved, but I don't remember his nature (she's adamant with poison heal!). But yeah, when I was playing Sapphire, after I sent over my starter, I pretty much adopted Shroomish/Breloom as its replacement, and man, it was a thing.

And Spoonweaver, Alakazam's always been my favorite. He happens to also be really useful, which is why I always kept him with me as a sweeper any game I've ever played. I'd replace him with a better nature (i always end up with an atk-strong nature), but I'm sentimental and hate grinding. I have a lot of Ditto natures, but it's still too much time.

Oh, right, I did give it to you. Unfortunately if you want Spore, you need to keep Shroomish from evolving till Level 45, when he learns it. Breloom won't learn spore. Sad

Oh. Well, at least, for nature and breeding purposes, it's a female.

Can anyone trade me a Smoochum? I don't really want to wait for the Swarm.

I have many Eevees, a few Shroomish, some Gastlys, and Zangooses.

That might be the one of the few swarms I've traded all away. I'll see what I've got and what I can do, though.
EDIT: Have Jynx, will breed.
EDIT 2: Just get on AIM whenever you want me to hand her over.

^ Thanks again, duder.

So get this, guys.

I was dicking around on the GTS about a week ago when I spied a Shiny Magikarp for.. something I had from a Japanese trainer. I decided to grab it.

It had a hasty nature, which is OK for a physical sweeper (in the end it nets out to about the same as jolly with a bit less Def), so I decided to train it. After all, Red Gyarados!

Well, it says it was met at the Resort Area at level 80. Which is a bummer, because that's clearly a hack, right?

Not so. In Platinum there's a pond where you're able to catch ONLY Magikarp with all rods. The only difference is the level. The Super Rod lets you catch Magikarp anywhere from level 1 to 100.

Confirmed at the bottom of the page:
http://www.serebii.net/pokearth/sinnoh/resortarea.shtml

So, I have a totally legit shiny gyarados now. He is a monster and has the standard Dragon Dance set, which is:

252atk/252spe/4hp
- Dragon Dance
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Waterfall

EDIT: Oh man, more GTS craziness.

I'm completing my Pokedex (IIRC, 3 to go!) and I needed a Lucario. Rather than drag Riolu's sorry ass out of the Ranch, I opted to just find one on the GTS to be done with it. I found a Level 2 Lucario asking for a Moltres. No big, since 1) I don't use legendaries (exceptions being: Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Deoxys), and 2) I have 2 sets of Legendary Birds.

So the Lucario comes over and his moveset is:

- Bullet Punch
- Blaze Kick
- Crunch
- Cross Chop

The impressive thing about this is, these are all Egg moves. I realize that the fellow could have used a Smeargle to breed in these moves, but its impressive nonetheless. If I wanted a pretty beastly sweeping Lucario, I'd just put this dude with a Ditto and wait for the Adamant Riolu to pop out. Pretty sweet.

I wasn't counting Arceus in the total because I was going for the star on my Trainer Card, but now that you mention it, yeah I still need Arceus to get 493/493. Right now I'm 492/492.

The last 3 were Anorith, Armaldo, and PorygonZ, all of which I got doing trade-tradeback with my girlfriend.

I'm back into breeding now, and I'm working on a Weavile with Ice Punch. I've got the Daycare going now. Looking at Weaviles dismal Sp.Atk stat means this one will be another Physical Sweeper.

I've yet to work from the Lucario I got, but I plan to make a Physical Sweeper out of the set it already has then try a mixed attacker.

I really want to work on more Walls/Supporters but they're such a pain to level up.

Off the top of my head you can get the star without:
-Mew
-Celebi
-Lugia
-Ho-Oh
-Jirachi
-Deoxys
-Darkrai
-Shaymin
-Arceus

due to them being Event-Only, since it would make it impossible to obtain a "complete" pokedex without cheating or living in the right city at the right time.

What about the trade network? I'd think there'd be a way to get them.

It's nice of Nintendo to award you completion without them, though.

You can't ask for anything on the GTS that you haven't seen. The only way to get a lot of these guys is to cheat on an older game and Pal Park 'em, use Pokesav, or have a friend in Japan (or a friend who has Pokesav).

No one is supposed to have Arceus yet, though.

Shaymin Flier
Looks like Toys 'R' Us will be giving away Shaymin from February 8th-14th. I'm sure most of us have hacked Shaymin now, but it's always nice to get a "legit" one.

See attached image for info, apparently it was an early leak.
