I think most people aware of the project have known about this mechanic for a while now.
I'm really sure the first two Halloween Quests also used 3 heroes.

Fen - You won't be disappointed with the Jeopardy scenes. No potent potables though...

Twin/GBA - Yeah, the HQ series has always used 3 heroes. I kinda feel that 4 is way too many. It makes battles way too complicated in my opinion. The fewer the heroes in the party, the more you use different heroes for different things.
