Yeah, man. If you want to pick on any series about rehashing, pick on Dragon Quest. (Even then, all of the games have something different to offer.)

i agree that after 3 they are completely different games. i just did a little bit of sprite research on ff-ffiii and saw that there are a lot of enemies. a prime example is the giant. there are 5 different giants in ff and out of the 5 different giants the only thing that is different about theyre sprite is the color. that goes the same for ii and iii. if u like i can post the links to the sites i came up with that has all the sprites from all the final fantasy games.
You're talking out your slimehole here. Those are called "palette swaps" and were used in almost every game, RPG or not, prior to the PSX era. (Mario has red turtles and green turtles, for example.)

You've got to be kidding me.

but if u look through the ff i-iii the pixels on some of the sprites are almost exactly the same.
I already stated that FF1-3 reuse graphics. My point was that calling these games the same because of this is ridiculous, and saying "its still like that" is even more so. FF13 is not using graphics (or even art design) at all similar to FF1.

Your graphics are sort of leaning towards the problem you had with the cavern that you took out. You seem to want to make them for a game like TMNT 2 the arcade game or double dragon if you prefer, when you are in fact making a game like Super Mario Bros.
I think a quick fix could be the use of the offset thing on maps like that one. You should have the player, and all the npcs be towards the middle of the... path
On a different topic, has anyone noticed how people call it super mario brothers even though it says bros. I know it's technically an abbreviation but that word has sort of gained a slightly different meaning. I'd like to point your attention to the Bro Rape video on youtube to show what I mean.

Oh, this is an awesome perspective issue.
It's supposed to be a ramp, but now I can't unsee it as an actual path!
Thanks for bringing that up.
