puzzle stages would work like chess puzzles you find in the paper. Where the board is already set up and you have like X number of moves to win or something
Oh and yea, AI. Well I'm going to go for scaling AI. The first group would be goblins which would just sort of move randomly, and destroy any units found in range. The next step would be units protecting their chest. Next would be units seeking out YOUR chest. Next would be units that made a point to not move into your capture range. and so on.
I was just wondering whether traditional chess puzzle would work. There are a few different types of chess puzzle. One is where you're trying to find a way for both players to cooperate to achieve something like a certain position, which would mean controlling both sides. Another is whether you're trying to find a clever sequence of moves which is a forced win (or other condition), i.e. the other player is assumed to play their best available move, but loses anyway, which seems to imply an AI that's either quite good or performs predetermined moves.
The puzzles would very likely perform predetermined moves.
As for AI, I have set up some of it, but it's still unlikely to be seen in the first release of this game.
As you can see, the pieces the computer has are different then those players have access to. So far, there are six possible player pieces and 14 computer pieces. I've just got done testing and adjusting the way the player controlled pieces move and I think I found a good balance. Each piece seems valuable but none stand out and overpowered. Of course, it remains to be seen whether beta testers will see things the same way.

I don't know how much more I'll work on Sprout until I consider it "done," but perhaps after it's been playtested and I work out all the bugs I'll call it finished and go back to working on something else. This is the first game I've actually made to completion, so it's some kind of milestone for me. Hopefully my other games will get there someday too.
Also I redrew the title screen and did the colors right this time so it looks a lot better. Give Sprout a play if you haven't already. It's short and pretty easy.

Dungeon Bout is coming along well.
As I've said, I'm going to upload a beta version here soon or later that will only feature the basic 2 player head to head mode. The purpose will be to get some feedback on the balance of the game. Hopefully that goes well.
Anyways, I've been running into a lot of distractions, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

Ah.
Yes I just drew mine in the same style. They need to have areas of color on them to show which team they are on. It would have saved time to use that sprite pack, (even more so considering I haven't done all the enemies yet.) but I'm actually glad I ended up doing them all myself.
Glad you like them.
EDIT: Here's a picture of the team select screen

I'm currently working on a sequel/remake of my 2008 game, Surf's Up Yuk.

The brown dinosaur from House Heroes will finally see the light of day again, and in his own game.

I'm attempting to create the most thought out and heavily planned town I've ever done and it's coming along pretty decent. The town has a lot of locations that can help it self sustain.
