Whoa, it's been a while since I've seen one of those ZZT/Megazeux/other old DOS text-graphics game type square smiley-face guys.

Like your video says, nobody suggesting this game will likely have played TimTim1. But you might have more success if you do what some movies do and just give it the subtitle and ditch the number altogether. We all know this is a 2nd entry in your franchise, but nobody else does. It's the kind of thing that might be minor enough to hurt you since you have to get "greenlit" for this type of stuff.
Check out Red Triangle Games!
I see no problem keeping the "2" in the actual game title, but it does seem wise to downplay it as much as possible in the greenlight page
My experience with posting Bob the Hamster Dirt Dig on greenlight was definitely a skin-thickening experience.
Greenlight commenters are a pretty nasty bunch. I rate them as worse than youtubers, but not quite as bad as 4-channers :P
I'll be sure to upvote (and leave a *nice* comment) as soon as I remember by steam password :)

Ah, I understand your point completely. I was confused at first because actually my title was misspelled when I put it up and a commenter pointed it out to me so when Mogri suggested removing the 2 I thought he meant a typo like error.
No, I get that it may be confusing to some. I've actually thought about it a lot and even had a few logos without the 2 and in fact with 3 other sub names, including Tim-Tim vs. the DinoLich, Quest for Dunderblunce, and Epic Gnome.
However, I thought about it a lot and my reasons aren't great or at all easy to explain but I went with Tim-Tim 2. Mostly because I hate it when movies use a subtitle and not a number.
Oh and the commenters on greenlight are pretty funny. Just read the latest one that was just "No...". Such honesty.

Spoon, I meant to say this in the other thread (graphics thread?), but since the conversation's more active here, and since this might help your game's commercial appeal a bit more, I think adding even subtle touches like "spongier" mushroom platforms (they ripple when Tim-Tim lands on them) would make it more competitive with other platform titles on Steam. Spending $3 on any title is not a big deal for most, but most people still want something better than generic, and you're more likely to get their three bucks if you give them something that shows you care a lot about the title. Potential buyers will assume you do, but those little details like reactive environments might confirm to them that you care. In a world where Early Access is getting a reputation as a cash grab (not that yours will be Early Access), people will want to see your heart in this.
Also, with the exception of providing an "announcer," you might want to do away with the character voice overs in your next trailer if you don't actually use them in the game. I don't find them misleading since I know the OHR, but people who know nothing about the OHR might feel like it sells more than it offers. Plus, if I'm being honest, it comes across as cheesy. You might get more mileage out of it to use a song from the game and play it over the footage, and maybe add text as advertisement. For the OHR community, I think the trailer you have is perfectly fine, but for the wider Steam audience, you're better off emulating trailers for the platformers that have proven successful.
Regarding the title, I think you could keep the 2, but lose the reference to the hardly played first title. Ten years ago I self-published a trilogy of books called The Collection of Junk, and not even relatives or good friends would buy them, much less strangers. Why? They liked my writing, but they hated the title. Said it was too self-deprecating. I thought the title was funny, but thanks to poor marketing, the joke was on me. I made a grand total of $6 on all three books. It took the printing company five years to send me that check. The marketing really does matter (as does the title) when you make your work public, even more so when you put it up for sale, and you're better off losing any reference to Tim-Tim the Mighty Gnome if all you can say about it is that hardly anyone played it.
Also, if it's important to you that consumers know about Tim-Tim 1, then maybe you should package the two games together. Promising players two games in one might increase your sales.
Just some things for you to think about.

@pepsi:
Why would I emulate other games to appear less generic?
Next, I'm clearly going to have voice acting in Tim-Tim 2. It was one of the most liked parts of Tim-Tim.
I was also going for cheesy with the trailer.
Moving on, calling your book junk and making a sequel are clearly different things.
Lastly, nah I don't plan on packaging them together.
Thanks for the thoughts though

I don't think you should emulate them (and I don't see where that was implied). I was suggesting you add little touches like "sponginess" or whatever to show that you're paying attention to details (which some people like to see in their games). Some people might buy a platformer because they want any and all platformers, but others might want to see why yours is more appealing than the other $3 platform action games they've got their eye on. It's cosmetic though. Do what you want. The graphics are pretty good as is. The landing spots seem a bit flat visually (tree branches, leaves, etc.), but maybe that won't bother anyone.

I see. Didn't realize that was part of the original game. Good job then.

Okay.

In this case, I was referring to your comment in the trailer that says, "In the sequel to the game that almost no one played..." Admitting that hardly anyone played the original sounds self-deprecating, which apparently is a major turn-off for a lot of people (paying customers). That's what I was cautioning you about. As I said in my response, adding a 2 to your title isn't the problem.

I can tell a lot of work went into your game, Mammothstuds. I would suggest balancing out some of the battles. The monster's stats on the first level are so high that 1 battle is enough to leave you weakened and helpless if it doesn't kill you outright. Also, you should also post a screenshot or two with your game.
Overall, I thought that game might be fun but I wouldn't say I was wowed.
