Why do you keep reusing the Vampire's Curse graphics? This is the 3rd game now.

Speed. I have less than three weeks to finish this game (or get it close enough). Most of this time is spent:

-> Work, for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week
-> With family
-> Travelling back and forth to work an hour a day
-> Working on Art commission for other people
-> Cleaning the apartment and caring for one of my sick roommates.

Trust me, any time I can spend to shave off a good three days of work just to make one tileset is time I could spend plotscripting, writing text boxes, and polishing the game. It's the only area that extensively re-uses graphics too, but I'll see if I can alter them significantly.

I'm not arguing that you're busy, heh. It's just... I dunno, kinda lame to see the same stuff being reused over and over.

I understood your logic for using the Vampire's Curse graphics in Vikings. But this is like two years later. I dunno. I've seen a buncha reused sprites in your games for a while. It's funny that some of the sprites you did for Halloween Quest 2 when it was first gonna be a you and me project still turn up. Haha. The zombies, Rachel, and there's a couple others...

With this logic, I guess you could essentially make phenomenal graphics one time and just make multiple games using the same stuff. Heh.

I swear I'm not picking a fight or anything, just general observations.

You're quite right. Coincidentally, the first three NES Final Fantasies reused a LOT of sprite graphics for their tiles and NPCs, so it shouldn't come across as much of a surprise. Megaman did it for 6-7 different games.

You WILL see some minor details change, like the paintings scattered around the area have a different Sci-fi feel to them to accommodate the theme of the game. Still as long as people are enjoying the game, I guess it really doesn't matter what it looks like. I could have kept the original 8-bit theme, and it would have been just fine.

I don't think the reusing of graphics was such a big deal in the first place as both VoM and CoD use the exact same style. Changing the carpet color was a huge improvement in its own right.

Even Tsugumo's tutorial talks about how changing palette colors can change the setting of a place. Same thing here.

Well, wasn't having standard reusable graphics for people half the point to Vikings Of Midgard? Why's it gotta be any different for Fenrir?

The trees fit the theme of your other tiles.

However, if you're looking to change them a lil, maybe use less black so they don't pop out nearly as much. Otherwise, good work.

Surlaw,

I love how you have a Nacho Libre type wrestler in your game. Are these all heroes or villains?

Lucier,

I'm sure you're gonna get plenty of people slobbering over those graphics, so I think I'll limit my response to a question:

Do you really have to fight all those enemies at once? On just 30HP? Or is that merely a practical display case of bad guys?

Oh, and *drool.*

thats absolutly correct. all games looked the same for a long time and they still sold for millions in stores. look at urban/suburban/rural assualt, theyre all exactly the same game except with different pallettes. a bunch of the final fantasys were the same with just different story line. they even have the same critters features over and over but in just different colors showing that theyre stronger critters. and you know what, its still like that for the final fantasy series. they still just do color changes on everything and they call it a day. its one of the most acclaimed rpgs ever. so the bottom line is, do what you want and enjoy your outcome.

Villains. The pink-shirted Frat Guy is the most vile.

This isn't even remotely true. Every Final Fantasy has used different battle mechanics, and even though 1-3 reuse graphics, they play extremely different from each other, and after 3, each game has an incredibly different graphics style. The fact that they reuse certain sprites multiple times in one game doesn't mean anything, because the art from game to game changes a lot. I've got nothing against reusing resources from your own games, but Final Fantasy doesn't really do that.
