Nostalgia: Old un-released Bob the Hamster sidescroller

I recently ported to FreeBasic an old unfinished prototype of a Bob the Hamster jump-and-run side scrolling game.

You can download the results here: bob-old-sidescroller.zip

You can move Bob around a single level, and interact with a few objects, although there are no enemies to fight.

This code is notable in OHRRPGCE history because, as best as I can remember, it is the first Hamster Republic code to use the multi-directional scrolling code used for the OHR's maps.

I find it interesting that Baby Bob actually plays a little smoother than this :)

Cool man! Aside from the 'doink' sound Bob makes when he jumps which gets annoying kinda fast, this would be sweet if it was actually playable with enemies and such.

Agreed. The level design is pretty cool, and enemies would just make it better.

I love the game, even though I can't hear the sound.

I especially like the way that his expressions are exaggerated when he's running.

EDIT: I found that the reason I couldn't hear the sound was that someone had turned the speakers on the computer I was using down to zero.
Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!

I am glad y'all are amused :)

I have no plans to continue work on this old sidescroller, but I am working on a different one written in less ancient-and-crunkety code.
