I think yourse might be a little off, Surlaw, mine's had WiiConnect 24 on since I got it and it's barely gotten warm at all.

In standby mode my Wii would get hotter than my 360 does, and that thing gets pretty hot for a game console. Maybe this is a launch system problem that was fixed later, but search google for "wii gpu overheat" and you'll find tons of examples of what I'm talking about. A few months ago, the Wii thread on SomethingAwful was getting several posts a week complaining about the system overheating.

Some guy has already found a way to swap move sets between character models with the Japanese version of Brawl. It's absolutely horrifying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZDgjjDnWLM
I remember seeing this same thing done with Soul Calibur 2 years ago, and it was hilarious then and it's hilarious now. There are a few other videos if you click the user name on Youtube.

Went to the midnight release at Gamestop, and four smug employees crossed their arms and refused to sell it to me. "This is why you should preorder! Now you'll never find a copy! Also, preorder Mario Kart, it comes with a steering wheel!"
I drove five minutes to a Blockbuster down the road and bought one of many available copies with no problem.

I think I like playing as Kirby the most at the moment. Man, he's about as good as he was in Smash 64!
Everyone who said this game was significantly slower than Melee is a liar. I can't tell much of a difference in speed.

I went with a couple friends to the local Gamestop so that we could play in the tourney that was supposed to start before midnight.
Unfortunately, we clearly didn't understand the concept of before midnight well enough and arrived at 11:30 when the tourney started at 10:00.
They gave the winner a little mac trophy.
Fortunately, we were given an entire hour to mess around with the demo, unlocking most of the hidden characters. (The demo only let us play one minute matches, but still. So good!)

New Pork City is absurdly large, to the point that two groups of characters on opposite ends of the stage make you nearly impossible to see. Also, King Dedede is too big for the Classic Mario Bros. stage! Some of his overhead hammer attacks get stuck on the ceiling. I actually can't seem to get the hang of him at all, which makes me sad. He's hilarious, but I wasn't able to do anything effective with him. Yoshi and Bowser seem better now, which is cool. Mario's FLUDD attack is awful.
It does feel slightly slower to me, but not significantly. I really prefer how Brawl handles.
They started at 9 at some stores. Also, it sounds like lots of Gamestops made up new rules and ignored the official ones on gamestop.com. I've read people complaining that the employees said the tournaments were only for people who preordered, which was nonsense and has never been true at GS game tournaments. I'm really glad I didn't have to give them my money.

It feels like a lot of the characters have slowed down. But some characters appear to be funner to play as than before. Like, Link just seems better, I don't know what they did to him, but he's great. And so far... my new favorite character to play as is definitely the Pokemon Trainer.
But ya, if anyone's on AIM today, hit me up and we'll Brawl some.
