Effect funkiness

Check out this battle log and the one after it to see all of my effects mysteriously disappear. I have no idea why it happened, but my Agi is permanently stuck at a number so low I can't use most of my attacks.

I've been meaning to totally rework effects in the code (which would result in little or no changes to the user, but would be a lot neater) and now I have a better reason to do so. However: I still don't know what caused this. If you've seen disappearing effects, please post examples here.

Thanks!

I assume it has something to do with the move you used. That or attacking James....

Wasn't that right around the same time that I used Dispel Spray on you in battle 390?

EDIT: yep, confirmed it. Check out my stats in battle 464. How did I do it? By using dispel in the simultaneously running battle 465

It looks like dispel clears statuses on all battles, but only resets stats on the correct battle.

Now that I see this, I realize that I have seen the bug before many times. I have noticed in other battles that sometimes my Int was 101 and other times it was 151, but I never made the connection until now to the fact that the changes coincided to my dispelling myself to cure paralysis in other battles.

It's a lot clearer in 367, but yeah, it's looking like the first turn taken after 4:41pm last Friday is the one where he loses his effects.

argh

that is so frustrating

I'll probably lose any battle where I've been so crippled, but at least it's fixed now.

Note to self: be more careful with that sort of thing Mad

Can you edit stats in an in-progress battle? I think it would be totally fair to fix your stats in that particular battle (and I have been avoiding taking my turn while I waited for you to do so)

Yeah, I could, but I'd have to figure out what my Agi is supposed to be. If you're really patient, I can probably do that sometime tonight.

Yes, I am really patient :)

Hey, I was finishing off the bug-testing battle with sir goowain where I had busted him down to 1 agi (and it looks like I may still lose) and I noticed another bug

I used jiggle to reduce his agi to zero, and then wehn it was his turn, I see:

My guess is that his Agi went negative and so it detected that he had no available moves (the default min_agi is 0).

That is an extremely silly situation, but I'll rectify it anyway.

(edit) The minimum value for any stat is now 1.

Hey, I was wondering if agility actually affects the frequency of criticals and fumbles. I used to think it did, but after playing against 1-agi sir goowain, I don't think that is the case anymore. Is the critical rate card-coded into the attack the only factor affecting criticals? What about fumbles?

Critical: Percent chance of scoring a critical hit, which increases based on your Agi stat. Not displayed for attacks that can't critical hit.

I'm pretty sure the enemy's Agility is also taken into account to reduce your critical chance.
But even if Goowain has 0 Agi, you still won't be critting with every attack.

Fumbles seem to happen on a fixed rate, though, as the lower-Agi players don't seem to fumble any more than anyone else.

Fumbles occur 5% of the time, but are overridden by criticals. As the FAQ says, criticals are based on your Agi. You can check the crit% for any attack on your profile, but that's calculated from your base Agi.

More specifically, each attack has a poorly-named "critical chance" attribute. If your Agi is the same as the attack's CC, you have a 50% crit rate. I think this is explained somewhere.

Equipment Request: Some sort of armor that reduces fumble rate in exchange for reducing a little of your agility?

It isn't all that silly. Seems to me That anybody who had all three of Super Shock, Shrink Ray, and Jiggle would be capable of zeroing the Agi of anybody who had 36 or less Agi

I suppose that will fix the problem in the future, but this battle is still wedged. Maybe you could give him back his normal stat, so he can finish clobbering me?

Actually, it would fix the problem in the present too if I could remember my variable names.

I updated my Agi in all battles where it was under 30. I'm not sure if it's entirely correct, but it's correct based on what effects were currently in effect. So go ahead and take your turn(s).
