What is Mega Tact?
Mega Tact is an online, multiplayer strategic battle simulator. It derives its name from Super Tact – originally a game for the Commodore
64, but later co-opted by GameFAQs users as the name for Mega Tact's predecessor-in-spirit. Super Tact is essentially a text-based version of Mega Tact
(or maybe I should say that Mega Tact is a fully-automated version of Super Tact).
Who are you? How did you do this?
Mega Tact was created by one person: me, Adam Perry (aka Mogri). It's written entirely from scratch in PHP. Although the code is 100% my creation,
much of my understanding of the core mechanics is owed to other sources such as the excellent Battle Mechanics Guide and the resources available at
Final Fantasy Hacktics. Special thanks are due to the Super Tact community for laying the groundwork upon which Mega Tact is based.
How do I start playing?
First, you'll need to register on the Slime Salad forums. You don't need to participate on the forums to play, but you do
need to have a forum login, since you'll use the same login to play Mega Tact. Once you have an account, start by creating some units, then forming a
team out of the units you've made. That's it! You're ready to play. For more details, see the Getting started article on the wiki.
How do I create a unit? I'm not familiar with all of these options and stats.
Although the core demographic for Mega Tact already has the game data committed to memory, I've attempted to make it as newbie-friendly as possible
without significantly increasing the development effort required. Check for tooltips by hovering your mouse over unfamiliar terms (especially in the unit
preview window) and take a look at the Reference tab for additional information. You should also read the Getting started article on the wiki.
Why do I need to create teams?
Teams help you organize your units. Not only does the team organization give you a way to manage sets of units, but it also provides for an easy
way to enforce battle formats: any teams that violate a battle's format won't be available for selection when you enroll in a battle.
I found a bug/I have a suggestion! What do I do?
Please add it to the wiki and be patient. Remember that Mega Tact is free and my time is limited. Your patience and understanding are appreciated!
Can I help?
Sure! I'm not looking for programming assistance, but I can always take more maps and bug reports. Ask me how you can submit a new map.
