Aliens have invaded your ship. Can you escape?
To win: You must initiate the ship's self-destruct sequence, send a distress call, and escape the ship in an escape pod. To initiate the self-destruct sequence, you must visit every operations room and disengage safety in each one. You can send a distress call at any time from the communications center. Only after the self-destruct sequence and distress call are ready may you escape the ship in an escape pod.
Each action takes a certain number of rounds, as indicated above. Each round, the aliens will act: drones move, and queens may move or spawn drones. Initially, queens cannot move and spawn in the same round, but once you send the distress call, queens may move and spawn in the same round, and their rate of spawning is increased. An alien in an adjacent room will always attempt to enter the room you are in, but a room can never contain more than one of each kind of alien.
An alien in the same room as you will damage you each round if you perform any action other than firing on the alien. You also take damage if you enter a room where an alien is present. Drones deal one point of damage, while queens deal two points. Actions that take multiple rounds leave you vulnerable: aliens can enter your room and attack while you are performing them. If you run out of life points, you die.
Both you and the aliens can move through standard doors. You can jam a standard door to prevent access. No one can move through security doors normally. You can use security doors by overriding them (converting them into standard doors) or by using the security office. Once you use the security office, you (but not aliens) may access security doors for the next 15 rounds. You can sense aliens in adjacent rooms, regardless of the door type that connects them.
Easy: You start with 16 maximum life and a full clip of ammo. One queen is aboard the ship, which is small and contains four operations rooms. You can see all aliens regardless of their position.
Normal: You start with 14 maximum life and four rounds of ammo. One queen is aboard the ship, which is small and contains five operations rooms.
Hard: You start with 12 maximum life and three rounds of ammo. Two queens are aboard the ship, which is quite large and contains six operations rooms. Queens may spend two rounds to unjam a door.
Nightmare: You start with 10 maximum life and one round of ammo. Three queens are aboard the ship, which is very large and contains eight operations rooms. Queens may spend two rounds and drones may spend three rounds to unjam a door.
