Question concerning multiple versions of same game

Post by Fenrir-Lunaris »

This thought came to me recently. What if we have two different versions of a game we'd like to upload to the gamelist, which are functionally identical except for a few minor changes. For example, a "Hard Type" of a game, or one that uses MP3 music in lieu of midi. Should these receive seperate gamelist entries, or should the author make both available under the same gamelist page?

Author discretion. You can upload two ZIP files to the same entry, but you may not want to.

If you're referring to FFH, then ya should prolly just package them together. I know I never played Hard Mode, but if the player was stuck getting it either way, they might, ya never know. But if you're designing a new game, I'd try and work it all into the same RPG file so it's a bit neater.

And so we come to the center of the shrubbery maze! There appears to be a timeout limit based on the actual file SIZE of any given game submission. After trying to upload the "quality" OGG filled version of Vampire's Curse TWICE, I waited about 10 minutes for a message to pop up that said something like "post mode not recognized". Bear in mind the full file is "only" about 10 MB, but this shouldn't causes a timeout... ...or should it?

Aha! So that's what it is. Your friend mentioned the same problem barring him from uploading his game. I'll take a look at this, but I secretly doubt there's much I can do short of recommending you get a connection (or a friend with a connection) with faster upload.

(Edit) The largest file anyone has uploaded to date is Dwarvinity at 5.5MB.

Fenrir you are hurting my SOUL. Normal users can't reply to their own game threads and neither should you. Replies are for reviews; future functionality depends on this! (Hacky? Perhaps.)

I have stuck all of your attachments into the original post. Please make your changes and delete the reply.

Done. I was initially unaware that they wouldn't attach to the original post like they do now. This has been a learning experience, at any rate.

I've increased the max filesize to 25 MB. Can you try uploading the big file again?
