Worst RPG ever

Well I personally just can't stand it when a game reaches out and flicks the player off.
GAME: Well, I guess you could search every inch of every town and dungeon.
ME: Why?
GAME: I'll give you, like, 50 gold. And some potions.
ME: Well I already have more gold and potions than I can use. Thanks, but I'd rather actually play.
GAME: (6 hours of gameplay later) WELL SCREW YOU YOU CAN ONLY GET THE BEST ITEMS BY DOING WHAT I TELL YOU.
And the game's immaturity was downright painful. Every monster looked exactly like it had been drawn by a four year old with a crayon. The game managed to get a Teen rating, exclusively because the main character likes to swear... again, like a four year old with Special New Vocabulary.
So much of the game just rubs me the wrong way.

Infinite Undiscovery is the worst RPG of this generation.
I'd comment more, but I can't get more then a few hours into the game without wanting to kill myself. Just watch a trailer or video review and you'll understand how awful it is.
It is also one of the few games on Destructoid to get a 3. From Colette, who is a self-proclaimed JRPG fanatic. The game is REALLY AWFUL, guys. I'm ashamed to have it on my shelf (and gamertag).
Blue Dragon wasn't bad if you wanted just an old-school RPG experience, though I wish you could turn the voices off (can you? I guess I never tried too hard). The main villain is lame and i swear they made your guys attack extra slow just to prolong the battles. At least their second outing, Lost Odyssey, was really quite exceptional.

Yeah, going with this. Any game that has BARREL OF LULZ as an achievement is automatically lame, but this game was really brokenly bad. I had trouble targeting enemies, your partner AI was horrible, the acting's terrible, and a couple hours in you recruit TWO horrible child characters. I think I put in about four hours before quitting forever.Shadowiii wrote:Infinite Undiscovery is the worst RPG of this generation.
Just the goddamn name is all the proof you need. What the hell does "Infinite Undiscovery" mean? "I forgot everything"?Surlaw wrote:Yeah, going with this. Hey, that was a good enough justification for me to get Tales of Symphonia.Surlaw wrote:"I'm a Japanese videogame"Momoka wrote:What the hell does "Infinite Undiscovery" mean?
I really don't understand why I like Symphonia and hate most other Tales games, though. Legendia had a clunky combat system to blame, but I didn't care much for Vesperia either. (Maybe because it had god-awful comedy)
And Tales of Legendia totally belongs here. The combat was slow and clunky, but the opening was the first 30 hours of the most generic RPG plot ever crammed into five minutes. Maybe I should thank them for saving my time?
The skill system in that game was also GOD DAMN ATROCIOUS, too.
Maybe it's just really hard to make a game sound awful. Generic = mediocre, I would think.Momoka wrote: And Tales of Legendia totally belongs here. Let's see... I think Lunar: Dragon Song for DS is a good candidate. While it had a fun battle system and so forth, I ended up putting the game down and trading it off because you are so financially starved and the best way to make money is to do these missions where you hunt down certain items, meaning a bunch of busy work that begins to feel like a convulted MMO with a ton of busy work just to get your next set of weapons or even just sleep at an Inn.
