Lynda joins the fray and begins stabbing Madeline. Madeline's grip on Charles' neck clearly loosens. Silas tries to cast a spell but the snake's grapple makes casting spells involving precise arm motion impossible. Silas decides to instead try to escape the grapple. He is successful but the snake looks ready to grapple Silas again. Silas casts sleep on the snake before it gets the chance. It falls into a deep slumber.

Kalar instructs one of his zombies to attack Simon. The other zombie smashes the last big clump of beetles. The rest of the swarm scatters and soon there's nothing left of the insect swarm.

"Yeah, uh, hang on a second Silas, I'll be with you in a moment!" Lynda says to Silas. "I'm currently in the middle of something!"

She continues stabbing Madeline.

Silas tries to remember if he has ever read anything that would give him a clue as to the identity of the spell that created the Large Globe of Darkness around Simon.

Unless he remembers something that frightens him, he will assume the darkness is just meant to make Simon harder to punch, and that it can be taken as a sign that Simon fears being punched again. Therefore, Silas will (probably) use his stone arm smash on Simon again, rather than attempting another spell.

At any rate, he has completely lost track of how many spells he has already cast today.

Lynda stabs Madelina again, this time she scores a neck hit. Madelina reels off of Charles, grabbing her neck as blood gushes out. She flails around the room, covering everything in a mist of her anguish. She collapses tot he floor, shivering and gagging for breath.

Silas, thinks about the darkness spell Simon cast. He knows there are several spells that can cause this affect and didn't really see Simon cast this too well, so he can't be sure which one it was. Silas assumes it was likely the simplest of darkness spells, judging by the size of the globe. Simon emerges from the darkness just as Silas was going to enter.

Simon is now twice the size he was before. Standing at least 11 feet tall, with twice the muscles, and brandishing a large sword the looks to be made of ice, Simon looks at Silas. Silas reactively smashes Simon in the chest when he sees him. He grins as he in turn swings his in sword and scores a devilish hit on Silas. Silas topples from both the power and chill of the attack. Being a warforged, Silas remains standing after such a hits whereas before he'd be on the ground for sure.

Having finished off the insect swarm, Kalar sends the other zombie in to help Silas and Lynda. Seeing the now much larger target, Kalar readies a javelin, trying to gauge if he's too far away or not.

Galse and Thistlewhistle look out in frustration. They want to help their comrades but giving up their plan and rushing into a chaotic battle isn't something either of them thinks will help the situation much. They cry out for the others to join them in their much better tactical area.

Lynda deals 11 dmg (crit)
Silas deals 4 dmg
Silas takes 5 dmg and 2 cold dmg

Silas is currently below 0 hp. Normally he'd be bleeding to death on the ground but being a Warforged he is simply inert. He is unconscious and helpless, and he cannot perform any actions. However, an inert living construct does not lose additional hit points unless more damage is dealt to him, as with a living creature that is stable.

Madeline is no longer a problem! Huzzah!

...Except now there is a gigantic, hostile Simon on her tail, and Silas is now immobile. Uh oh. Looking around, she quickly decides her next course of action.

She decides to take off for the loft. If she can get there, she'll be able to get higher ground to snipe Simon with her bow and arrows. The loft is high enough that he can't physically retaliate, and hopefully she has the anti-magic Silas speaks of to not be magically retaliated against.

"This better work..." Lynda thinks. "I have a lot riding on this."

"I'm terribly sorry Silas, but I have a plan!" Lynda shouts as she runs off.

Silas does not hear Lynda's words. He is unconscious, floating painfully towards death in a cloudy dream.

His last thought is:
"Vecna! Lord Vecna!, If you find mercy your secret heart to spare my pitiful life, I swear I will murder Lynda in her sleep, and cut her into a thousand pieces and hide them each where no-one will ever find them! For your glory!"

It is okay for anyone to read the spoiler now

"Crap on a biscuit, that's not good..."

Kalar sees Lynda racing towards the rest of the group and wonders whether it would be better to stay put, or try to recover Silas' body so that he can revive him. He also wonders if healing spells would even work, considering that Silas seems to be made of metal now.

Finally, he decides to stay put. He does however, crouch down, to make himself less of a target for ranged attacks. He then mentally commands his zombies to surround him (as best as two zombies can) so that he can only attack one at a time.

Next Round

If Mega-Simon comes closer, Kalar will try to <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/comman ... command Simon to fall to the ground.

If, however, one or both of his zombies are destroyed, he will instead use another rebuke undead attempt to gain control of two of zombies currently standing in awe.

If Simon does not appear, and both of his zombies are still up, then he will mentally command the zombies to try to grapple him and bear him to the ground.

Question, the loft, does it have a railing that one could hide behind?

Charles is reeling from the repeated death of his sister. He had thought that finding his dead sister in bed was the worse thing anyone could ever go through. He was wrong. His neck was sore from his sister's attack and his hands were covered in his sister's blood. While standing there, trying to cope, Simon was in the next room impaling the castle's guests. What had happened to his family.

Simon grinned as he looked at Silas. These intruders had proved to be as puny as he had thought. The set backs from before were just flukes. They had been lucky and nothing more. That was about to change. Simon chased after Lynda, stopping to attack the zombie that got in his way. The zombie fell easily, fueling Simon's vigor. The other zombie steps up to Simon, preparing to attack Simon slowly, the way only a zombie can.

Kalar crouched down beneath the loft railing. Peering through the railing, he watched as his zombie was destroyed. He hopes the next one will fair better.

Thistlewhistle and Galse both cringed as they watched Silas fall. If that what it took to get the party to understand the proper use of tactics, it's a sacrifice they both feel was one they all had t make. They stood at the doorway, ready for when their time comes.

Lynda ran.

Lynda continues to run, trying to make it to the loft. If she can make it there, and Simon is still visible from the loft, Lynda will try and shoot at him.

Galse thrusts the food bag towards Thistlewhistle, puts a hand on his shoulder for emphasis, and shouts what could very well be his final instructions.

"This bag contains THE most important thing if we're going to get out of this alive. Under no circumstance should you let it fall into the hands of any crazed sorcerors, plant monsters, moody unicorns, ghosts, alligators, greedy Half-Elves or any other threats that you may find after the rest of us have been brutally slaughtered and you're wandering the wilds by yourself. I repeat: the contents of this bag are the absolute most critical key to the puzzle. Protect it with your life, and destroy it with your last breath! It must not be allowed to pass into the wrong hands!"

For emphasis, he points towards the chaos inside the church.

"THOSE WOULD BE THE WRONG HANDS!"

Realizing this is a lot of responsibility to put on a stranger, he softly adds more encouraging advice before most probably charging to his doom.

"This is a big job, but you're gonna do fine. You have to do fine, so you will do fine. If you can climb, try climbing one of these trees (make sure it's friendly first) and then maybe you can jump onto the roof of the church. I doubt anyone'd look for you up there, and it'll give you time to think of a plan, and some perspective of the surrounding area. Maybe you'll see something worth running to, maybe not. And on a simpler note, close the door behind me when I go in there. It won't save you, but it'll buy you a few more seconds."

With the strategic decisions made and the most valuable bag in the world in what are hopefully good hands, Galse now turns his eye tactically to the fracas in the cathedral. Charging in blindly would be suicide, gotta make sure you at least bloody his nose a little bit first... patience... patience...

How far away is Simon from Galse? When the moment seems right, Galse is going to make a charging attack to try to sap the bastard in the brain. IF, that is, Lynda is ever able to lure him somewhere near. Once engaged in combat, Galse will continue to make any and every move to support the party's fighting withdrawal. At this point the chips seem down, but he is not resigned to suicidal action: he will retreat if the situation allows.

However, the situation has clearly gone far beyond his paygrade as a simple cook and he does feel a duty to protect the people he feels are better suited to getting out of this mess alive (Namely everyone but Lynda). If it comes down to dying so they can escape, so be it. I'll try to be around to make decisions but I got a really bad cold and no idea whether or not I actually will be able to.

Good work killin' a guy's long lost sister at the moment of their reunion though! That was brilliant. Disgruntled peasant lady vs. Raging Sorcerous Goon, I know which one I'd think is most dangerous.

Kalar overhears Galse's conversation with Thistlewhistle and decides it's time to update his tactics. He still doesn't want to engage in melee (much preferring to let his zombies do that) but if it comes to that, he decides that he'll jump right in.

If Simon stays put and attacks the zombie (and destroys it), Kalar will use a rebuke attempt to take control of two other zombies.

If, however, Simon follows Lynda and comes into range, Kalar will leap off the loft, aiming to fall onto Simon (move action). Kalar weighs nearly 300 lbs (185 lbs base weight + 111 lbs of gear) so he figures that even if he doesn't damage Simon all that much, it will at the very least knock him back. As soon as Kalar makes contact with Simon, he will follow it up with a war pick to the face (standard action), hoping that the pick will catch, and that his weight will cause the pick to tear through more flesh as he falls the rest of the way (Simon's 11 feet tall at the moment, so that's still a ways to fall).

A wave of panic hit the party. Lynda was sprinting to stairs, Kalar was readying to jump off the loft and Galse was entering combat. Simon stands at the head of the chapel. Overlooking his domain, he tracks Lynda's path as he fights a zombie. The zombie gets a punch in but ultimately shares the same fate as the last one. Simon chases after Lynda with a passion.

Kalar successfully controls 2 more zombies with his godly powers. Though it was small, seeing the wound his zombie gave Simon, Kalar decides to direct more zombies to fight for him instead of jumping.

Lynda runs. She makes it up the stairs and over to Kalar. Galse waits for his chance to strike right outside the door and sees it coming as Lynda passes.

Kalar instructs his new zombies to attack Simon, but they struggle to catch up to him as he runs by chasing Lynda. Lynda joins Kalar up on the loft and Kalar turns his attention towards the stairs waiting for Simon to show up.

Simon makes his way, finally, towards the stairs. Galse cringes as he sees Simon go to the stair case with the statues. This is his time though, and he's already taken care of the food. Giz lunges in to smack Simon in the back of the head with his sap.

(critical failure)

Galse, seems to be a bit rusty. His attack goes far tot he side and completely misses Simon. Galse was being so quiet that Simon didn't even notice him and continued right up the Stairs.
Simon stopped at the top of the stairs and looked at both Lynda and Kalar, deciding which to kill first.

Galse accepted his fate as the statue to his side patted him on the back. A quarterstaff appeared in Galse hands. It seemed very well made.

Thistlewhistle stood there wondering if he should actually guard this bag Galse gave him or go in there and help in the fight.

Realizing that things have gone pretty badly, he turns to Lynda and says, "When you get the chance, shoot him full of holes!"

Kalar readies his shield, trying to use it as cover. While protected by the shield, he lifts his holy symbol and channels power through it.

He holds it up to Simon and says, "Flee from us."

I missed? I never miss! Galse wonders to himself, watching his would-be target run by unawares. I guess sometimes you're lucky to be unlucky.. what the hell was that?! A double sneak attack? Damned statues... but what's this? A proper weapon? Lucky to be unlucky indeed! He gives the statue a grateful tough guy nod and continues pursuit of his foe, putting away his sap for the time being
