The Distrib menu simply packages together a few platform-specific files into a .zip or other archive. It supports Windows, Debian Linux and OS X; so you might want to use it to create an OS X app as well. I don't think that creating a Windows installer adds much over using simple zip containing an .exe file.I'm still a little confused about how distributing works, but I'll try to browse the forum and look around.
Note that if you want to create an Android or Ouya package you would have to get James to do so anyway.
