Planning the 2013/2014 Finish Your Dang Game Contest (FYDG)
Back in 2009, we did a Finish Your Dang Game Contest. I would like to do another one.
This isn't the contest thread, but the purpose of this thread is to gauge interest, and agree upon a time.
If I remember correctly, the original plan was for a 2-month contest, but it ended up getting extended to a 3 month contest.
I suggest we split the difference, and plan for a 10-week long contest.
I like the idea of starting the contest in December, but that is mostly personal preference, because I often have time off work around the holidays, and therefore have more game-making time.
I would like to simplify the voting rules compared to the 2009 contest.
I doubt I will be able to offer any cash prizes this year, but I hope that won't be a big deterrent. The real prize from this contest is your own completed game. :)
Thoughts? Input? Suggestions?

This is very inspiring. My game is in an early stage of development but maybe I can use this as a goal to at least finish the game mechanics, battling and opening scene so I can release a demo of my game.

How about a tie-in with HotOHR 2014?
EDIT:
Then again, that might be a bad idea as it prolongs the FYDG contest period far too long.
Forget I said anything.

I'd like this, in a way, but I agree with your points on it being too extended.BMR wrote:How about a tie-in with HotOHR 2014?
The only game that would be able to compete of mine would be "merciful mungbeans", but I sorta want to release it for the big HotOHR2014 contest. Which will give me more time, anyway.

Would Ruin be eligible for something like this?
My goal was to "finish" the game by next year, though I anticipate several additional weeks after that for tweaking and testing. Wasn't sure how this contest worked for games currently being worked on...

I'd love the idea!
And of course I'd like to take part.
There will be two weeks on holidays around new year, I heard (I hope it's true...
<- *needs holidays* )
As a game there would be either a"Kim and Jose"-remake or the squel to "Fools' Quest against the All-Seeing-Eye".
Is a remake, okay?
As a price I could contribute a fan-art picture of the winner's game, if that's ok?
