8-bit Summer Voting

Post by Meatballsub »

The voting phase for the 8-bit contest has begun. You will be eligible to vote from Tuesday, September 10th through Monday, September 30th. Everyone that is a member of the forums is welcome to vote.

Rules for voting:

- List your favorite games in order. Your #1 choice will receive the highest points while the lowest choice will receive minimal points. You do not have to vote and play every game, even one vote is acceptable.

- If you have an entry in the contest, you CANNOT vote on your own game (though you are free to vote on the other games).

- Votes MUST be submitted via PM on Slime Salad. You may also mail your votes to me at mballsub@gmail.com.

The results will be posted in the beginning of November.

Does Entrepreneur not count, then? If not, I'm curious where the line is between Entrepreneur and Meh that one counts and not the other.

I didn't count Entrepreneur because of what PR said.
For those of you who missed it in last night's post to "Entrepreneur Central," the latest update for Entrepreneur: The Beginning is now online, just in time for the end of the 8-bit contest (though, this is not an entry, so don't count it as one).
If this is incorrect, I'd be happy to include it.

No, it wouldn't be fair to count it. I've put four years' more work into it than the other authors put into their games. Plus, the majority of the work I did during the contest window was for scripting only. My new graphics in the last month are limited to two of the event NPCs.

If the 8-bit contest were ever extended to include previously released games, or games worked on outside of the contest window, I'd probably enter it then.

I suggest a grand 8-bit game contest to be held in 2020. To include any and all submissions. I suppose limited to OHRRPGCE games.

If voting ends Monday, September 30th, why wait until the beginning of November to post the results? :???: :hurr:

Just a reminder that this is the last day to get your votes in! I'll have the results tallied within the next few days.

Whoops, almost forgot to vote.

1 - Meh 2.0
Out of all the games in the contest, clearly the most work went into this game. With superior graphics and creative and original gameplay (even if it does seem to just lead to random choices doing random things) this is the clear winner. All that's left is to see who placed 2nd-5th.

2 - IHopeIFinishThis.RPG
Even without the clear Gnome favoritism I have for the game, I still think this game has some cool stuff going on. However, like most of the games in this contest, it was supremely under developed.

3 - Absolute
If this game progressed pass the hero's house I might have placed it higher. There's some good stuff here, but not much of it.

4 - LazerTag
This may have been a silly joke made on a whim and I may be voting it in last place. However, this game did give me a little chuckle which I can only expect to be the game's one and only goal, and in that way this is the most successful of the entries.
