Summary: Pretty much finished with the text for Chapter 2. Now all that remains is the prettification.
Specifics:
Finished the Navigation section and uploaded appropriate screenshots
Finished the Adding Project Details section along with appropriate screenshots
Added a "ProTip" blurb that will be used throughout the Core Tutorial. Provides information not exactly needed in the course of the tutorial, but is good to know
Created a download link for the sample game
To Do:
Fill in the missing graphics
Spell/grammar check, pretty sure I made quite a few mistakes
Start the layout/outline for the next chapter
Finish the stupid video that's taking me longer than I thought it would

I really like where you are going with that chapter. it is looking good!
I suggest removing "Chapter 2" from the article title. Even if it is the second article, it should still only be labled chapter 2 next to the link on the HOWTO page, not in the title of the article itself.
There is already an article titled "Getting Started" but it is pretty windows-specific, and your article is already better :)
Summary: Way past the time I should be sleeping. Bah. Haven't got any specific updates for today, but yesterday I changed the first chapter from keyboard conventions to an introduction to the Core Tutorials. It didn't really make sense to me to have keyboard conventions as a first chapter. Instead, I'm designing the Core Tutorials to read more like a book, so the conventions were moved to an appendix.
Specifics:
Wrote a new short introduction chapter
Moved keyboard conventions to an appendix within the Core Tutorials
To Do:
Remove the old keyboard conventions page (from the old HowTos) to prevent duplication
Fix all the links and stuff that go to the keyboard conventions page
Draw something for the Introduction chapter. Perhaps I could bug James about drawing Bob or something... Or I could just make a snazzy logo, which would prolly be much easier.
Add "forward" and "backward" logos to each page in the tutorial so that moving from one chapter to the next is easier

Summary: Blast, but I haven't updated in a while. Was too caught up with some real-life paying work and didn't have much time to work on the wiki. But enough about real-life, on to more important things.
I've started the chapter on artwork. I've also spruced up previous chapters with slime avatars where needed.
Currently, the chapter on art is far from finished. I'll continue working on it soon, but my brain is kicking me in the forehead telling me to get to sleep.
Meow, I'll put some placeholders for videos later on. I'll mark if I'm currently working on that video, but if there's no indication, feel free to go ahead and make tutorial videos, the help would be much appreciated.
Specifics:
Added a title logo for the first chapter using a slime avatar. I'm very open to suggestions as to how to improve it.
Added slime avatars that link to the next and previous chapters/sections in the tutorial.
Added a slime avatar with a graduation cap for the protip sections.
Began the chapter on art. Rather than jumping straight into working on art with Custom, I'm covering some basic concepts and terms that will make later sections easier to deal with.
Uploaded some sample artwork from various games to show what kind of art the OHR is capable of doing. If I've uploaded a shot of your game and you don't want it there, just let me know and I'll take it down immediately.
To Do:
Finish the chapter, obviously. But specifically:
Add a concepts section discussing contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation. Some people jumping into game-making might not be familiar with these terms, and I'll be using them later on in the tutorial so I thought it would be a good idea to have a brief discussion on them here.
I'm going to show the reader how to import a new palette. The new palette to import will basically be Neo's, but with the first color changed from black to magenta. As I'm also going to be discussing layers and transparency, changing the master palette to one that didn't use black as a transparent color seemed like a good idea. I'm open to discussion on this one though. I never use the built-in editor, so I might be in a minority regarding the problem with having black as the first color.

EDIT: How do I fix the How To Chapters box at the bottom? It has two "Keyboard Conventions" in it, and it no longer reflects the order of the chapters.

Cool! Hehe, slime sprites. Still, if we can get James to draw bob for the tutorial title image that would be nice :) I tried to keep the wiki work going in your absense.
I updated the chapter list footer. If you edit a page, right at the bottom of the page will be links to the templates it uses.
I created templates for the Windows/Linux/Mac and Pro tip infoboxes. By using templates I hope that we can banish all use of HTML from the rest of the wiki. It probably would be possible to use mediawiki markup instead of HTML, but I don't know how to. HTML (and other messy markup) bad.
I would also rather remove the "Chapter X" prefixes from the page titles.
Also, I think 2x zoomed screenshots everywhere would be best.
I'm not sure about the master palette import. Seems unneeded for a tutorial. But maybe I said that because I prefer black over pink for the background colour.
Righto, I'll put removing "Chapter X" on my To Do list.
Yeah, I'd also like to avoid using HTML, but I Wiki markup is, in my opinion, much messier to look at. And it isn't as easily understandable as HTML is.
I like the templates though, and thanks for pointing that out, I might be making a few more templates depending on whether or not I run into any other recurring thingies while writing the tutorial.
Heh, and yeah, Bob would be a great mascot for the tutorial title image.
/me decides to hunt down James and pester him about drawing Bob.

Summary: Got some graphics from James, woo! Added those in where I could fit them. Overall, not much actual text was done today, but I did some work on fixing up links and stuff. Not a very sizable update, but ah well, that's the way the cookie bounces.
Specifics:
Fixed the title logo to feature Bob
Added slime avatars that link to the next and previous chapters/sections in the tutorial for all the chapters
Added a lenson-plan-esque bit to the beginning of the chapters I'm working on. They basically say, "By the end of this section, the reader should: ..." It gives the reader a breakdown as to what's going to be happening in the section.
TMC added templates for a lot of the messy HTML code that I used. Thanks!
To Do:
Continue working on the chapter.
Get in touch with Meow regarding video tutorials. The one I was working on is failing miserably.

Yeah, I pretty much never use the built-in editor, so I'd be pretty terrible at doing a tutorial about it. I can do a write-up about it, but a video demonstration of the built-in editor at work would be great, if that's not a problem.

Dear BMR,
I am getting ready to record an overview video on the Edit Graphics menu, then I'll probably do a more insightful one on Edit Maptiles.
Oh, and I may as well do a general menu one for it too.
I'll be posting the links here later.

Well, unfortunately, the later two video's audio decided to die, no idea why.
At least I got the Edit Graphics Menu vid done. I'll retry Start Up/Main Menu and the Edit/Export-Import Maptiles Menu again probably in a few days/weeks/months/millennium.
