Work-On-Your-Game-Weekend!

Post by Bob the Hamster »

With this post, I declare Work-On-Your-Game-Weekend to commence!

The goal is to make progress on an existing game project of any kind. To participate, you need only to Work On Your Game

This thread can be used as a place to declare things you intend to work on this weekend, and to post screenshots after you do it.

Everyone who enters, wins, and the prize is what you create!

I will mostly be working on my Non-OHRRPGCE game, "Bob the Hamster - DIRT DIG" but I also intend to add friendly mer-sheep NPCs to this map in Wandering Hamster

edit: ninja'd [s]Curious as to what you'll be working on, too.[/s]

Gonna shoot for completing the UI - the skeleton is there, the buttons work, just need something a little prettier. Also gonna whip up a few tilesets (such as cavern, dungeon, castle etc...). Would like to get a test dungeon to demo, but we'll see.

Posted this in the hype your game thread, but I figure I'll leave it here for comparison.

I am going to add some seaside and infrastructure tiles to one of my tilesets so that I can get to work on map making.

Edit: Getting late, my grammar went bad.

But I don't have a game.

Oh well, I'll just make some tilesets.

Cool, Tilesets are fun, all I have is empty rpg files with some tiles, but this topic got me to pick one to turn towards a game.

I've been making a few sprites, and also finally figured out what the midgame of the project these guys are from is going to be.

I'm really looking forward to Harlock's upcoming release of 'Galya: Legend of Hell Castle' and I wanted to share with you all some of the music that's to come your way. While it's not "my" game, it IS a game for which I'm doing at least 6 of the tracks (and putting in a lot of hours). This is what I've been working on this weekend:

Galya; Main Theme
Galya; Battle

I have nothing as pretty or interesting as the others to share. Basically, balancing calculations have been done, and approximate damage values have been determined.
Oh, uh, I'm talking about Merciful Mungbeans, by the by.

I also plan on setting up enemy spawns and such later.

It's not much, but here's a picture of an enemy:

I guess I'll choke out the last bit of this weekend with a small note.
Basically, just been working on attacks, sounds, and enemy stats. Sorta in a cycle rotation. I make enemy stats, need to make an attack, need to make sound, back to making enemy stats.

The game should have at least a playable demo available to any who want to try it out will real battles within the next week or two.

Still talking about Merciful Mungbeans, by the by. :zombie:

Aside from VampiDucki (who've I noticed has edited his post with a new song from when I last looked), does anyone else have any progress to announce on this last day of the Work-On-Your-Game-Weekend?

(also, I vote that the first weekend of each month should totally be a work-On-Your-Game-Weekend)

Glad to see so many projects being worked on!
I got some tiles rearranged and added a few new ones, but that is it.

Good idea, Meowskivitch. This informal event is indeed something we should do frequently. The first of every month sounds great.

Other than the mer-sheep, here is what I have been working on. This actually starts earlier in the week, only about the second half of this timelapse happened this weekend:

<object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

EDIT: re-uploaded the video to fix it

(Let me know if the video looks garbled or full of static. It does on my screen, but I think it is a youtube-on-linux fluke that only affects newly uploaded videos, or something like that)
