The baconator speaks wisdom. Tell us story premise, game type, and maybe a screenshot or two.
Though I tend not to agree with general ban-nazis of starmen.net, I find their thread guidelines for how to start a thread about your game rather reasonable: http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Game ... post780557
Hey guys I am new to this forum and i ve heard about the OHRRPGCE for a long time I just did not have the courage to start an RPG let alone finish something with no time available. Ive always had an interest in rpgs since I played BOF for the SNES. My love for RPGs just grew as I Got older. I am now a student at the art institute of California and im studying graphic design and still have love for RPGs.
Anyways the story for Endless Saga is a surprise just as Advent soul is but I can say that Endless Saga will take place in world of floating islands similiar to skies of arcadia or baten kaitos. So far I have composed special moves and have not started on any tile sets, but will be starting really soon. The story will be serious and not like some of the games on OHRRPGCE not to bash anyones comedic value its just what I want the tone to be in my game.
The story for Advent Soul will take place in World War 1 in the year 1916
when the tension from the first gun shot in 1914 got a lil more conflicted. The main character Justice Solidor comes from a family of Demon hunters The Solidors and gets tasked to stop a general in the the german army named Lucius Wolf. (thats all I can tell you) the game will be dark and gritty just like the setting would be like around World War 1.
I would like some help if anyone is interested in helping with music and backgrounds.
I Notice there are alot of competition and alot of great talent and will be glad to work with each and everyone of you all

The story will be serious and not like some of the games on OHRRPGCE
Then you clearly haven't played Bloodlust, which is a very gory, frightening, and disturbing survival horror OHR RPG, or Tilt, a strange, psychological story that involves the downward spiral of the character. They show off that the OHR can do dark and gritty games.
I like the premise of both games. I also know what you mean. It's nothing against anyone's work in particular, but I too feel there's a lack of "serious games" as opposed to "joke games", mostly because the latter seem to be easier to make and require less of a critical investment. I don't mean games that take the comedy seriously like Powerstick Man, but actual "joke games", like 90% of what the community saw from about 2005 to 2010. They have their place, but we need the variety that serious games will offer too!
Keep posting new sprites as you make them; I'd love to see what you do. Like I said, I can see a lot of skill inherent in that Renzoken design.
Very impressive. A couple of questions out of pure curiosity:
1. Do you do preliminary sketches of your characters in battle poses and base the sprites off of them, or do you just jump in and create the sprites from scratch?
2. What program do you make these in? GIMP, Photoshop, Custom.exe, or something else?
To tell you the truth i just do a quick pose and look at the mirror and kep the same picture in my head. I have to say tho sometimes the poses dont look right lol..
and I dont really use a paint program i just use the engine and do from scratch using the default palette..
Does anyone else see Raiden's body as twisting in the most bizarre fashion? And is Xenia wearing nothing but some kind of sports-bra-esque top, or is her arm just covering her entire back? I also must admit that it feels a little weird that these characters are facing away from the screen.
EDIT: Looking at it again, I think I realize why Xenia's arm/back(?) bothers me. It doesn't appear any lighter than the back arm, despite the fact that the legs are clearly differentiated.

I just don't want anyone to have the same pose so i switch it around do you not like it? as for Xenia and Raiden i think the difference in body position separates them from the rest but if u look closer they are actually facing the screen i altered there heads to face left...
