A novel idea (ho ho!)

Talk about things that are not making games here. But you should also make games!

A novel idea (ho ho!)

Post by Forkweaver »

Bad subject title aside...

Hi there slimy folks, I am Spoonweaver's girlfriend (hence the name) and he suggested that I go on here to see if anyone would like to read my novel. It is going to be 50,000 words or so (I am rewriting the ending as we speak...again.) Here is the 300 word pitch: (Let me know if you would be interested in reading the entire novel. I would greatly appreciate it and give you cupcakes for life!)

Penelope wakes up in a cabin with no memory of how she got there. Her memories are faded, but the images of two faces cling to her mind like spiders in a web. Dread sits in the pit of her stomach and never goes away. She distinctly feels that the world has gone astray but does not know why. Walking out of her small room, she finds a strange man. This man says he is a scientist who managed to save Penelope from the monstrous creatures who have taken over the world. How the creatures got here isn't important - the fact that they take over your mind is. To Penelope, the truth is a confusing riddle. Questions fill Penelope's head, with few answers following. It's hard to know what is true when the creatures can make you believe anything. The strange man is her only salvation in a world falling apart.

Penelope is suddenly stripped away from the strange man, trapped by the creatures, and desperate to find a way out. Although the strange man said trust no one, Penelope befriends another girl. Penelope's world crumbles when she falls right into the creatures' trap. They have gathered other survivors and are controlling them. Penelope finds it hard to fight off the creatures. Her body wants to run, but her mind is starting to believe what the creatures want. It won't be long until she becomes one of them...one of the creature-minds.

I would very strongly suggest giving Critters a go. It has a special program for getting entire novels critiqued. And with the number of people on there, you're sure to get some good critiqued.

I'd be willing to give it a read (either by emailing it to me or putting it up on Critters, I'm a member there), but I'm not sure if I'd finish reading it any time soon, perhaps a month (maybe two).
Being from the third world, I reserve the right to speak in the third person.

Ok! :) I will message you guys once I have finished the last two chapters. Sorry about that, haha; I didn't think I would get replies so fast! :o

Here is a little bit of information about it:
The genre is SciFi Mystery
I am going to enter it into Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award Contest (http://www.amazon.com/b?node=332264011) which begins in January. So there is plenty of time; please take your time reading it. :)

Thanks again! And sorry that you have to wait until I finish. :hurr:
