MAGGOTS!

Post by Blue Train »

Okay, I guess I should start assigning jobs for you back-up graphic guys. You guys have to let me know your strong points and weak points are, and post some pictures of previous work.

I think I'll cover most of the hard stuff. Battle backdrops, hero and enemy graphics, and attack graphics. What I'm thinking, is one of you will do walk abouts, and the other do tiles / put together the maps (I feel these go hand in hand easily, since alot of times when you're making a map, you'll realise your missing a tile.) Walk about's will have to keep in mind NPCs, cutscene animations, and 4 directional walking for alot of the characerts.

Keep in mind that we want this game at least getting somewhere by the end of the summer. Don't take on too much work if you're not going to be able to get as much done.
Blip.

Well, heres the breakdown of my strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths: Enemy sprites, and maybe walkabouts, and maybe hero graphics. The walkabouts depend on how the heroes are designed. I have my own hero and walkabout template. It's not very good compared to others, but it's something I adapt to my games.

Weaknesses: Portrait Graphics, Battle Backgrounds.

Here are some samples of my recent work, and my Templates for heroes/walkabouts.

Allo.
My strengths and weaknesses probably depend on what exactly I'm drawing. But I'll just post some more pics and let you decide. I'm happy with both, walkabouts or maptiles.

And reposting this incase you missed it before:

Tell me what you think.

Sooo...BT, are you going to assign us yet? Summer is dwindling away, and we haven't gotten started yet, to my knowledge.

Here's how I see things,

Baconlabs should be on maps

Voltire should be on Hero and Enemy battle sprites.

Master K I'd really like to see you focus on attack animations, and MAYBE walkabouts but only if Blue Train says gone.

Blue Train walkabouts and Backdrops.

For now, let's just focus on these things.
Don't worry about doing them in the editor, just make them importable.
Also, let's work with the default palette. Unless Voltire has another palette he'd like to share soon-ish.

Attack animations? You mean making attacks?
I can do that.

But i'd like to know what weapons may be in the game. Blunt weapons, slashing weapons, stabbing weapons, guns, ect...

Oh good point. OK you can make the weapons too. They'll need to be drawn so it make since that the artists should have a say in which ones we use.

So please draw the weapons along with the attacks, and if you could drum up some place holder walkabouts you'd really be helping out.
Thank you.

Sorry I've been absent (what's it been, a fortnight? Get your act together baconman). What did I miss?

Like... map tiles, map layouts, map music. I can do all of these, but I'm still unsure what the setting and story is. "Zombies" is literally all I've picked up on.
I just downloaded IRC, is there some kind of hub channel everyone's been doing discussion on? I guess I'll linger around #SlimeSalad for a week and see what happens.
