Decided to follow up Batman & Robin's gameplay system I developed with a totally different formula. The X-Men! Gonna build it to be the same, mission oriented, gonna treat some things differently. I feel Batman & Robin was an experiment in a lot of ways for me, design wise, so I want to take what worked, and take a few more risks. With this X-Men game, you'll embark on 5 missions, plus the final one and have six heroes at your disposal at all times.
Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine, Gambit
The hub of Batman & Robin was the Batcave, but in X-Men, it will be the mansion itself. There will be even more to do in the hub than there was in Batman and even more characters to interact with. I know everyone was thinking I should follow up Batman & Robin with... Batman & Robin 2, but I feel this takes my treatment in an exciting new direction. In this thread I'll try to keep everyone up to date with the progress of the game as I think Batman & Robin was my best recieved game so there might be some solid fans who are interested in seeing the development of it's "sequel."
Last night, I started spriting and had a great time, got Nightcrawler's battle sprites done.

Each character has a physical attack, and then they have a skill set based on Mutant powers. It's designed because of a very specific mission I plan to do that should be a lot of fun for the player and a bitch for me to put together.

I'm not very familiar with the comics, and he didn't fight (or appear) very much when I was watching the cartoon, but would you expect him to kick or attack with his tail or something instead? He punched in the only game I played him in.
Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!

I believe Rogue is his sister? But yeah, definitely not doing the sword version. Hahaha. My designs are loosely based on the 90's TV show, similar to Batman's artistic style, and I kinda like the idea of Nightcrawler using his claws to fight. I remember the arcade game was this way.

Nightcrawler doesn't really have claws.I kinda like the idea of Nightcrawler using his claws to fight.
I think that was only in the Fox Kids Show. But, She wasn't Rogue's real mother, she just raised rogue from a very young age, teaching her to be part of her group of villains, it was during this time that she gained her power of flight and super strength by holding on the Marvel Girl for too long and stealing her power forever.I believe Rogue is his sister?
On the point of nightcrawler's sword, I think it's perfectly fine for him to not have one. Even though he did use one quite often, he chose not to use one just as often, if not more often. It really just matters which time/timeline you're basing YOUR nightcrawler on. However, I don't really remember the 90's show starring nightcrawler besides him appearing in 1-2 episodes.
In any case, the game sounds great.
Man it's crazy seeing this and thinking back to those cartoons and comics. I sort of vaguely remembered Nightcrawler using a rapier or something, but I didn't reply before because I really wasn't sure.
If it doesn't lead to spoilers, I'd be interested in hearing your reasons for choosing the six heroes that you did. I'm seeing all kinds of crazy uses for Jean Grey to solve rediculous puzzles. But for battles, a lot of their powers seem like they'd be real similar. Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, and Gambit all seem to specialize in damage. What if Psylocke could damage MP or a 'magic power' stat? Rogue steal enemy powers for a turn? Mulitple Man create a 'dummy' for enemies to attack? I'm trying to think of a 'support' style X-Man, but I've got nothing so far. Maybe Forge, somehow?
