This looks like a good place to ask questions.
I'm a movie fan who never touched the books, I hope ya'll don't mind, and I have a few questions regarding the latest film:
1) What is that curious mirror shard Harry carries with him?
2) What, and where, is the resurrection stone?
3) Where did the cloak of invisibility [s]go[/s] vanish off to?
Screw the haters, I'm here to talk Potter (spoilers)

1. That is a shard from Sirius Black's two-way mirror. He gives it to Harry in the fifth book, but this was not shown in the film.Baconlabs wrote:This looks like a good place to ask questions.

2. Spoiler
3. In the book, Harry still uses the cloak a lot. They have toned it down in the movies for some reason. He still has it, and yes, in the book the trio takes note that it is likely one of the Deathly Hallows.

To clarify just a bit (JSH will correct me if I'm wrong, this is going by memory):
When Sirius gives Harry the mirror in book 5, he explains that it is a "two-way mirror" that can be used to contact the holder of the other mirror in the pair. In book 5 Siruis has the other mirror, but Harry forgets about it, making his excursion to the Department of Mysteries that much more foolish. Up to this point in the 7th book (escape from Malfoy's crib, yo), it is still a mystery who might have received the other half of the mirror when Sirius died.
I remember reading the 5th book and thinking of the mirror right away when Hermione begs Harry to check on Sirius. I also thought of Snape right away. It was a bit frustrating, but also realistic, watching (well, reading) Harry totally miss these relatively simple solutions as the text outlines his panicking thoughts.

Reviving this mofo of a thread, because I watched the new guy last night finally, and I just want to mention a few things on a scale and then the discussions will roll:
AWESOME - Helena Bonham Carter as Hermione pretending to be Bellatrix. Absolutely amazing, maybe my favorite bit of acting in all the movies. The mannerisms, the facial expressions, the super-overdone worried eyebrows thing, WOW this was great.
GOOD - Harry going into the Forest, and activating the stone.
OKAY - Prince's Tale, plenty of good here, but it's unfortunate to miss out on the depths of Snape's tragedy, especially that it was as much his fault as anyone else's that he and Lily didn't work out.
BAD - Neville being a bit of a sap, then waking up from Voldy's spell in a comical manner.
UNEXPECTEDLY GOOD, MAYBE BETTER THAN THE BOOKS - Luna makes friends with ghosts!!!!! And it honestly feels more natural to have Luna point out the Grey Lady, and she to point out the Room of Requirement, than to have Harry think of these things, and to have luckily put his book there. It totally makes way more sense for Luna to 'solve' the logic of "no one in living memory", or whatever the wording is, for people who may have seen the diadem.
