Well the steampunk idea has more votes now so we need not merge the two.

Cool.

I'm going to go out for a bit, but I'll post a vague layout for discussion and critiquing and idea tossing-around when I get back. Which is probably the worst part of making a game, but the most important. Feel free to think up cool concepts and ideas, and play Okedoke to get into the Western (Steampunk western, but still western) feel.

Or, perhaps more fittingly,

I'll start writing some westerny music tonight, too, just to get into practice before I need to write for specific things. I got an MIDI keyboard recently, and my music skills have increased quite a bit now that I actually have tools.

Yee haw.

Okay. Blown away.

Idea is cool. I like robots vs. humans ideas, especially if you can't really tell who's good and who's bad.

Incidentally, can we make the hero a cyborg cowboy?

I was about to say I don't like cyborgs because it muddies the "manly men versus technology" theme, but making the hero a cyborg....that could work, if we go with the ending that both sides have their good points and their bad points. But he'd have to be the only one, or at least the only one we see.

I'd make it a shocking swerve, and not just for the "WHAT A TWEEST!" factor. I don't want to throw too much at the beginning.

Also, I'm starting to think we should do the phantom tactics thing, and be episodic. Release an episode when it's good and ready, and hopefully get a new volunteer or two.

Phantom tactics? I've heard this term before, but still have no clue what it means.

It's a game Mogri is making. He released the first chapter, so when he releases the second you can just copy your save and move on (as opposed to a demo).

I like the idea of releasing the game in 1-2 hours of playtime long chunks.

Hey, sounds good to me. Now I'm gonna have to check out Phantom Tactics to get more of a grasp on this.

(Such torture, this research...)

I tried to cover up my tracks when I found out, but it was too late...I couldn't find the post delete button.
